Harsh Flavor?

Recommended Posts

I'm still pretty new at this whole hookah thing, and recently I've been having some trouble with really harsh flavor coming from my hookah. I've packed these bowls a little bigger, do you think the shisha on top is burning too hot?

Often harsh smoke is caused by excess heat, but it can also be caused by other factors.

You should try to give us more hints to help you out. Like the type of bowl you're using, type of coals and brand of tobacco that is giving you problems.

either use less coal or use less coal.

I lol'd.

It's true though. Try breaking up your coals and spreading it around the surface more. Use less coal for sure.

ya its usually a heat problem, but other factors come into play. whats your set up?

When using quicklights I find that starting off placing the coal anywhere from half way or a quarter way off the bowl is perfect then I move it as necessary. I use 3 kings or golden quicklights. When using my phunnel I generally place the coal on completely and even then, I need to add another sometimes.

harsh is too much heat or not enough shisha. adjust one and if it's still off, adjust the other. you said you're new to hookah, so it just takes a bit more practice. my little brother has been trying to get his heat management down for 2 weeks (about 10 bowls) and still hasn't gotten it right. it took me 3 bowls to get comfortable. just keep practicing.

good luck!
