The best coal placement IMO is tiny pieces (as tiny as you can get em) all across the surface of the bowl, I try to go for 4 pieces (2 full coals) at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock on the bowl.

It is damn hard to break a coconut coal into halves but even if it's in crumbles it still works.

what coals do you use? I use cocos and what i do is i took a ball

second piece from the top from an old mya hookah, and attached the downstem of a mya on it, so it is almost like a hammer. And i take a sharp knife and lay it over the coal while holding it, and take the ball of that piece i make and smack it against the knife and it slices the cocos in perfect halves, seriously they are perfect halves. You could prob just use a normal hammer and sit a knife over the middle of the coal, one or two walks and it cracks perfectly, give it a try sometime.

Those meat flattening hammers would probably work well.

Desi Murli is some of the best shisha I have ever had the good fortune of smoking. It has a really rich, natural tobacco taste with just a slight edge of whatever flavor it happens to be. It reminds me quite a bit of pipe tobacco, really, which is a very good thing.

I mix 1/4 teaspoon of honey and 1/4 teaspoon of glycerin into a small phunnel's worth of Desi, packed fluffy, three rings of toothpick holes, and three cocos. Thick smoke, great flavor, and a buzz so big your keyboard will breathe.

You have just gotten me craving some. Looks like I found what I'll be packing tonight.

where can i buy this shisha?!

Uh.. google it?

i meant what website do YOU get it from?

Hookah1.com. It's ridiculously cheap and you get more of it because it is not very juicy, so the 300g you buy will be pretty much pure Desi. It almost fills up a whole Gladware container.

If you have a Michael's craft store near you, get some glycerin from the cake aisle. ~$2 for a bottle that lasts a while.

Smoking some of my Desi right now.

Wow, that first hit really smacks ya in the face. I had to lay down, and it was difficult getting to the bed to lay down.. lol. laugh.gif

Used 2 coco naras at first, too much heat, took one off and used the windcover just until the smoke died down, then ashed them and put them both back on there. Perfect!

I'm using a small Mya ceramic bowl, though. Phunnels will probably require a different technique.

  • 1 month later...
Be careful when handling this stuff. I've had two out of my four flavors grow mold.

I'm longing to get some of their flavours, but shipping to my home in Israel is really a waste of money. My brother goes to India a few times a year so maybe from there I'll get some.
