Warning: this is a loooong ass description of my journey

OH MY GOODNESS.

So I made the 25 minute trip out to Dearborn,Michigan today as per Srawas and Tati's advice.

Wow. Just wow.

I started the trip by visiting Al-Amir imports hookah shop on Warren Ave. I walked in and almost peed myself (ok I did a little). Tons of beautiful hookahs, hoses, bowls, and more shisha than you can shake a stick at. The brand selection was not the greatest but they did carry a VERY large amount of Nakhla including the Mizo line, DA in jars and tubs, and Zhagloul along with some sherazade, el basha, and fakhafina and the ENTIRE line of AF in 50g, 250g and Kilos. Including Golden. The somewhat subpar brands were Skyzzz (which actually I think was only like 10 bucks a 250 - great price I just dont care for what I've had of it), Arabica, and a few others I don't really care for.

They had soooo many beautiful pipes guys and gals. It was crazy. They had Khalil Mamoon Khepri hookahs, one of my fav models, for 75 bucks instead of Gothookah's price of 100 smile.gif They had BEAUTIFUL Al Fakher dual tone hookahs (brass and stainless) at very good prices - 75 for the one that was about 30 inches and 100 for the one that was about 36-40 inches. They had QTs being sold on Bambino bases and some extra bambino bases as well, some beautiful genie and boho vases.

The best of all....They had the all brass twisty Nour that everyone self included was freaking out about when it came out late last year on a GLORIOUS blue and gold genie base. I REALLY WANT THAT PIPE. I forgot to ask the price though. A few other Nours too.

They had TONS of cloisoinne Mya pipes that were gorgeous.

They had conservation bowls, unglazed bowls, all types of extra trays and hoses, it was madness.

I'm almost in tears thinking about the place.

Did I mention it's only 25 minutes away?

So on to what I got:

A KILO (1000g) metal tin of directly imported Nakhla Double Apple that the guy gave me for 20 BUCKS!!!!! I'm in heaaaveeennnn.....

250s of Nakhla for 5 bucks each

- orange
- pistachio
- zaghloul
- Mizo Apple (was leaking a little and in the discount pile)

A 250 of El Basha Caramel for 4 BUCKS!

Mizo Grape and Peach for 7 bucks each

and a couple clearance (they're done carrying it) Layalina 50g packs for 1 dollar each, I got Raspberry and Mangosteen which I've heard good things about.

I also got a couple of boxes for my buddy and it ended up at a measly 72 dollars...MWA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAA!!!!!!!

So I got OVER 3 KILOS OF NAK including the stuff for Homie G for 72 BUCKS no tax!!!!

So next I went to Al-Ajami, a wonderful lebanese restaurant also on Warren Ave. We got a hummus appetizer that came with a big basket of those sesame bread pockets and two HUGE plates of really fresh crudites, it was silly. They gave us a whole tomatoe, an entire head of romaine lettuce, two great european cucumbers, a few fresh jalapenos, freash sliced radish, green onions, a huge pickle, pickled cabbage, and pickled turnips. We got a chicken shawarma sammich, 2 falafel sammiches, and a bowl of crushed lentil soup and it all ended up being 20 bucks. And the food was super good.

_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

We rounded off the trip with a trip to Shatilla, the worlds freakin awesomest bakery. The place was huge, they had a big section for french style pastries, a vig one for middle eastern pastries and hot middle eastern foods, and a cafe with coffee and ice cream. Nothing was priced so I'm thinking oh crap this is gonna be expensive. I ended up getting some cute pink chocolates for my daughters, a few mini mamoul cookies, a huge slice of cheesecake with cherries pressed into it, a beautiful french chocolate mousse tart, and a delectable pistachio mousse all for 7 bucks.

_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

If you're ever in the metro detroit area, love hookah, and love middle eastern food and sweets you MUST visit this 1 mile or so stretch of gloriously ghetto fabulous Dearborn. It was more than worth it, and I can see myself going out there quite a bit in the future.

Oh and of course PM me and I'll have you over for a good session.

Yeah man, it was a tiny shop too, only like 2 aisles but the place was PACKED floor to ceiling with awesome stuff at great prices. I'll be shipping tomorrow morning btw dude.

Oh I forgot to mention, the guy gave me the kilo so cheap because he was being cool in light of the price hike coming in the next week or 2. Very nice people.

10 bucks for AF, so low, not insanely low, but a good price nonetheless.

I was about to pick up a 250 of chocolate when I thought about how much I've been burned by AF's inconsistency and went with Nak instead.

Then I almost got a 250 of Golden Esk Apple but went with the Mizo apple.

there's hookah shops ALL over Dearborn, even in some gas stations have hookahs lol. you should've gone to the Smokers on Warren just West of Schafer, about quarter mile down from al ajami. they have a lot of pipes and pretty good selection of shisha including their own locally made shisha (Asfahani) which is also pretty damn good. also a lot of supermakets have hookahs and you could usually bargain prices with them.

Yeah, Dearborn has a pretty big population of arab/muslim folks. I cant remember why they immigrated there, but there was a reason.

You smoke a device that originated from arab culture, but you would be afraid of going to a town where there is a big population of them? I dont get this at all.

you're right, what I said was stupid. I classified all arabs as bad. that was wrong, and let me correct myself:

Some Arabs aren't such nice people, especially if some of your friends happen to be Jewish.
I'm sorry but it is true.
I have seen how they treated them, when they saw their skullcaps. Not all arabs are bad, and thats true, but they could be nice to me and completely nasty to my friends. Now my friends have to wear baseball caps, or nothing when shopping at hookah places unless it is Israeli owned.

OH AND BY THE WAY, Hookah originated from India, did it not?

I believe it was turkey. Not positive though

But seriously "the middle east" or "arabs" gets generalized hard core. I am considered Middle eastern and i am 100% Lebanese. Us Lebanese people had nothing to do with anything (anything meaning 911 or what you speak of with how certain people were treated etc.) So I just find it unfair to say that because there is a high population of "middle eastern people" you won't go there. That is all that bothered me and you apologized for that, good work. But you still say "arabs" did this and that to said friends ... what kind of arabs?

But I think we shud discuss this in another section of hookahforum if you ask me.
