Let's try to be open to other cultures than our own, we're all human baings and are no different from eachother where it counts....inside. If that wasn't enough my Jewish sister is engaged to a Lebanese guy proving that we CAN all get along.At any rate, for some facts, Dearborn has about a 30% Lebanese American population that started in the automotive boom of the early 1900's. At any rate gotta love the DA. It was kinda cool, I was there holding the kilo debating and a dude in his 70-80s who I'm sure is a regular customer there walked in right to where the 250 boxes are and grabbed up 500g of DA paid and walked right back out lol. I think it was going for $20 last time i checked (2 weeks ago). They also have AF coconut coals at a good price, 4 bucks a 30 pk 8 bucks for the 60 pk or a box of 100 3K for 10 bucks if you prefer QLs.They have tiny conservation bowls glazed and unglazed that you might find cvool, I'ma get one next time I go.And of course the hookahs lol. Giant Ninja Robot Posted May 8, 2009 Author Share Posted May 8, 2009 It depends on what you want. Al-Amir on West Warren Avenue has Al Fakher for 10 bucks a 250 and Nakhla for 5 dollars a 250. Can't get much better than that, it's what I consider "my" local shop. They also have the tins/tubs of some Nakhla flavors which are typically better than the boxes and kilos of some AF flavors. It's on Warren Ave. between the Southfield freeway and Shafer. World Hookah is a little more expensive and also primarily carries AF and Nakhla, they are just east of Shafer. Go to Al Ajamy across the street a little ways further towards Shafer on the opposite side of the street for awesome lebanese food.As far as the 20 dollar kilo, they gave me a special price on that so I dunno if they'd give you the same, doesn't hurt to ask though. I swear to god there is not 1 block/turn or anything that does not have a hookah in it. Dearborn is the hookah place. That place is crazy. Shatila is good as heck its probaly the best middle eastern bakery in michigan, You try the baklawa? Well it's amazing there. A nice place is Sinbad, You buy ANY MEAL around or over 10 bucks, you get a free hookah. Pretty amazing. Well dearborn is the shit.
