ih303
So I took advantage of H-S's "free hookah" promotion and recieved my Mya Acrylic a few days ago. It seemed pretty solid except for the rubber seal that seals the base from the rest of the hookah head.(For those of you not familiar with this hookah, the rubber seal fits around the base of the head which is the "male" component which fits into the base "female" component)This seal was incredibly flimsy. It had very prominent ridges or "threads" typical to this type of seal. The instructions recommended lubricating this seal, which I did. The third time I removed the head from the base, the seal simply tore in half.Needless to say, I'm disappointed. My other MYA, a QT, is top quality. Have any of you had similar problems? What should I do other than buy another crappy seal? Is it just a design flaw?

The only problem I have is sometimes the grommet will crumble up and then it won't make a tight seal. I usually just slowly twist the stem into the vase and it makes everything line up nice and tight.
Zinite
Yeah the grommet for the Acrylic is kind of flimsy. You should email Hookah-Shisha and say that it was defective.
GreatPigHookah
Both of mine seal up fine. Never had a problem with that seal. Your gasket MUST be defective, because I just can't see one coming apart like that otherwise. I agree with Zinite - I'd contact H-S.
FamiliarJoe
My first hookah was the mya acrylic...it's def a unique hookah (lol). The rubber seal you just have to be very careful and learn how to get it to fit in the base perfectly, it's pretty tricky. I mean it's a free hookah so don't expect anything top notch. Don't get me wrong though, ive had some great smokes out of them though =]
Stuie
Mine smokes great. I still use that grommet for my acrylic base, mine I really have to force it into the base with it. I eventually bought a new standard type black rubber base grommet from H-S so i could use a glass base i got from HC.
SuburbanSmoker
thats really shitty. send hs an email, they are usually pretty good with there customer service.
ih303
Wow! You were right about H-S's customer service, SuburbanSmoker. I called and they're sending me some new grommets, no questions asked. Couldn't have been any easier. I'm thoroughly impressed.Hopefully I just got a defective grommet. I too had problems getting it together without it scrunching up. It definately requires some extra attention. But like FamiliarJoe said, you can't complain about a free hookah!

This isn't really your fault, it's the crappy seal's fault. I got one of those cheap-ass seals with my replacement Mya medium stem, but I'm using a more heavyduty grommet for it. Majid
Had this exact problem with a mya acrylic. I just used some duct tape on the inside of the base opening to make the stem fit snug, worked fine and doesn't leak at all. Boricua
My grommet is too large for the base, it won't fit even when applying pressure. Is that grounds enough for complaining to H-S?
SuburbanSmoker
well depends on if your willing to complain about a component that costs a buck fifty to replace.

Do you find these at hardware stores? You can probably get lucky with some sort of rubber gasket. Bring the old grommet and tell them you want something that is the same size/functionally similar. You might be able to use some sort of thick Teflon tape as well.
