Buying A New Hookah

Recommended Posts

I would say I'm SEMI new to the hookah world. I know how to properly pack a bowl, heat management, etc etc etc and I have my own respectable SINGLE hose hookah.

For the last few months I have noticed that I always bring out my nice hookah during parties. Almost every weekend I have about 7-9 guests smoking hookah with me toward the end of my parties, which lead me to conclude that I need a new hookah that can handle those party numbers. I have been ALL over the review section of this forum, done my own research on hookah pipes......

BUT, I am extremely indecisive!!!!

Price willing to spend: No more than 200.
Looking for: A multiple hose hookah.
Quality: Something that will smoke great, impress people and can handle repeated use by dumb drunk girls (durable).

So, I wanted to ask the community, if YOU were in my situation, what would YOU buy?

THANKS!!! (Pictures/links in your responses would be ideal)

Those hookahs have an acrylic base as opposed to glass, which basically makes the base indestructible.

The stem is cast brass, also very very durable. Extra hose adopters are $4.

i would stay away from rotators. they have all sorts of problems. Instead, what i would do is get a lazy susan. its a small spinning table- they're like 5 bucks at any craft store.
but all the hookahs mentioned are solid. I have a mya QT with 2 hoses, and that works great for me with four people. (each person doesn't need their own hose) but if your looking for around 10 guests, then ya, prolly 4 hoses would be better.

btw, do you play lacrosse?

Found a few others, don't have personal experience with them though:

Not an Acrylic, but it's relatively cheap and smokes well from what I've heard (I have one that's similar)

that last hookah looks photoshopped look at the left port

lol ur right... haha! silly HS!!

I still think, unless you want something more modern looking or whatnot, your best bet for a good durable multi hose hookah that wont cost you a bunch (more you save on hookah the more you have for the extras: hoses, bowls, and shisha) is a MZ. i like the prices that socialsmoke has the best.

things you might want:
Nammor/razan hoses.
small or medium tangiers phunnel (or large if you like half day or longer sessions)
lots of coals
lots of shisha!

Thanks all. Yeah myas seem to be the way to go because you can add or subtract the amount of hoses.

I was looking into buying 3+ Romman hoses.

I was looking at the gyro, close to my price limit and it looks WAY too nice, as in it could break if a drunk hoe knocks it over.

I bought a MYA Tempest from Southsmoke for $130.00 and they had a promo code where they send everything you need to convert to a four hose for $10 more. It's awesome, the best deal I could find on a four hoser and I love it too. Hopefully that deal is still on.

I haven't seen anyone mention Syrian hookahs. Are those a no go?

Syrian hookahs are fine, but you had mentioned you wanted it to be extra durable. That pretty much means an Acrylic base... Don't know of any Syrians with an Acrylic base.

not necessarily. if you get a good quality pipe like a mya, km, mz, or syrian, they come with tough bases.

I imagine i could knock some people out cold with my base and it be perfectly fine.

unless you smoke in a garage or tiled floor, then not so much. but i liek ot think that everyone can smoke right next to their computer in a heated/cooled and carpeted room.

also, even if you do break a base, they aren't expensive, and not like you would be paying for it...

myas are good pipes and i know a lot of people here like them. but me (from personal experience) have had issues from ghosting and after we smoked pumkin spice out of my mya it took like a week of semi-regular usage to taste like anything but pumkin spice. i would recommend a hobohookah. they're crazy portable (so if you go to parties as much as it sounds like you host them, this is a major plus) not to mention infinite amount of bases. the pipes themselves are practically indestructable apparently, and you can just toss it in the dishwasher. just a choice so you have more than a mya to ponder. unfortunately it's only a single hose, but fegem' you're throwing down for this shit so just put on some Oum Kalthoum, pull out the backgammon board and tell everyone to relax...

Don't get an egyptian multi hose (without autoseal or some sort of ball bearings in the stem) or it sucks with multiple hoses.

Personal pref there. Like everything hookah related, there is no real truth of the matter when it comes to what is best. Myself, I've smoked out of both mya, egyptian, and even syrian multi-hosers... my favorite smokers have been egyptians with no auto-seal in them.

Like someone else said, socialsmoke has a good selection of multi-hosed MZ's at some pretty nice prices too. I've got one of the smaller MZ's with a 3-hose stem and it draws easier than my QT.

i'd go with a smaller multi-hose mya if you want to stay under that budget. it'll give you plenty of room to upgrade the bowl and all the hoses, while having a good rig that will be less likely to tip over at parties. my next suggestion would be to go with a multi-hose KM, but they are pricier and you'll cry when somebody pulls on the hose too much and tips it over. been there done that.

Actually what I'm planning on doing is just getting a decent sized mya or somesuch and fitting it into a table. That way, you can make it look sexy and professional, while maintaining optimum durability.
