There isn't a lot from AF I really enjoyed to begin with. Most of the flavors were way too sweet and candied up for my liking.

However, I do love Esk Apple, Cafe Latte and Honey so much.

AF still has some good stuff in my opinion.

Their Golden line is Good. Mint is great. Watermelon is too candyish solo but a good mixer....haven't really tried a whole lot of AF.

ya preferences shift over time. theres too much to choose from in this country. When you go a cafe in the middle east and everyone has a tombac ball on top of their hookah, everyone enjoys it with no complaints. well at least the old people do

Sometimes I just have to shake my head at people with they say you smoke af? WHY? Seriously AF is one of the most consistent tobaccos on the market (nakhla probably is more). All this bad batch talk I think is ridiculous I mean seriously you'd think that if EVERYONE is getting bad batches then lounges would be getting them too right? I mean we do order from the same people usually. Well guess what...we have NEVER had a bad batch at the narg of af NEVER, and we go through A LOT OF IT. I think people mess up there bowl loading or mess up the heat management and say oh its a bad batch, because i do the same thing with af each time. Each tub will be different ADAPT!

Seriously though if I shouldn't smoke AF what should I smoke? HH?! LOL I already smoke a lot of tangiers.

oh and P.S. there is never ONE end all be all brand! Each brand has different flavors that are better then other brands.

watermelon blows, its too sweet for me

mango doesnt taste like much
double apple sucks but i dont like licorice

the list goes on, i just dont feel like it.
i havent noticed any inconsistency with it though, but thats just me.

AF is by far my go to flavor. Don't get my wrong i enjoy tangiers every now and then, just too strong for me. As for the other brand's, I like them but af's price is just so low (besides nakhala which is also very good) and just has such a wide variety of flavors...idk to me there still the best.

exactly what i'd say. AF has some good flavors which theyve downed and they produce huge clouds, good taste and easy to pack so fav in my book.

Anyways, I have never thought AF was good, but that may have been because I have been pampered by good cigars and great black style hookah tobacco for years... Their Grape is a good grape, it tastes as natural as grapes can taste, but when you get two 250 gram tubs of it and one smells completely different then the other - that's a problem... and then you go online and see that other people, people who love AF grape, are finding the same quality problems??? That's not a good thing.

Nakhla Mizo grapes is essentially the same flavor, only "juicier", with a better cut and one of those light, perfect nicotine buzzes. It is also 3 bucks less.

AF Cafe latte is alright, but Starbuzz caramel Mach. , which is almost the same flavor in essence, is worlds better in regards to Cut, taste, and the ability to take heat. It doesn't compare in price, but it is worth it as far as coffee flavors go. Nakhla Cap. is even better than AF cafe latte as well and 4 bucks cheaper!!

AF vanilla is alright, but Layalina's is so much better, also compares in price.

Esk. Apple is a good plain apple flavor, but Tangiers Apple is easily so much better that you can't even compare the two on a scale of taste.

AF is fine, but there's much better tobaccos out there for a cheaper price, or that are so much better than everyone should smoke them over AF!

I like AF. I like their mint and honey. I don't smoke much AF but those two flavors are very good.

As far as the whole phase discussion, that happens with everything. Things are in as quickly as they are out.

I probably smoke Nakhla and Tangiers Lucid the most though. Because of the screwed up climate I only get to smoke OG Tangiers in my house back home where it has been properly acclimated.

The ketchup thing is just a smell, hell, Nakhla Mizo Grape smelled like ketchup and it tasted like grapes. I thought it was great.

I'm still smokin' AF like crazy. Mint, Watermelon, Plum, Lemon, Vanilla, Caffe Latte, Esk. Apple, Bahrani Apple, Peach, Sweet Melon, Grenadine, Honey - all in my stash right now. I've gone through multiple tubs of this stuff over the last year or so and I haven't had any bad stuff yet. I guess I'll have to keep on smokin' it.

Not to mention, you'd have to go through a lot of just about any other brand to get the same smoking time that you get outta AF (excepting Tangiers, of course). Their flavors last far longer than starbuzz, fusion, fantasia, layalina, etc. Edited March 25, 2009 by GreatPigHookah

to those who are clamining there are no major issues with AF's quality control and that "bad batches" are being blown out of proportion:

I am not the hookah master by far however I know what good and bad tobacco is. I know that when something is so harsh from the getgo that I can't even inhale it, and that's besides the horrid taste, it is a bad batch. I know that when said bad batches are acclimated and the taste is still not improved to what it should be and the baccy is still harsh to some degree, something is wrong...we are not delusional or stupid, this isn't the ketchup smell debate. This is a legitimate run of bad batches.

I feel like I keep haveing to repeat myself. Everyone was pimping AF as the tops so last fall I bought 10 tubs.

10 tubs. thats alot.

I do enjoy the flavors I recieved that are ok, in fact I really love them HOWEVER with the quality of 4/10 tubs ordered faulty I'm VERY hesitant to purchase any more of their product. How can I be sure I'm getting a smokable tub? I am a fairly poor person. I can't waste money on this stuff due to a MANUFACTURER'S MISTAKE!

I have only tried AF twice, when I but 2 tubs from H-S. 1 was Sweet Melon, and the other Grape.

The sweet melon smelled like rotten fruit. It tasted odd, and nothing like sweet melon.. Unless sweet melon is supposed to taste like a chemical version of rancid melon.

Grape smelled better, but still had an undertone of it being sickingly sweet. It smoked OK, but it didn't taste alot like grape, and still had that slight rancid flavor to it.

The cut was pure shit, and it had just as many stems as leaves in it.

I ended up getting a refund on the melon, and I tried to smoke the grape, but in the end chucked it, as I don't think it was good.


So, I can't say that I've had a good AF experience at all. But compared to the constant performance of Tangiers, Nakhla that I routinely smoke, I don't see how AF can compete.

Maybe someone who has some good AF would want to send a bowl over, so I can see what the fuss it about, because so far, I wouldn't buy it ever again. 2 different tubs, manufactured at different times, both sucking, seems like a bad sign to me.

You picked a bad two flavors to be honest. alot of people are hit and miss with the grape. for the sweetmelon, as far as i can remember it has always been shit. give mint, pipe, or cinnamon a try.

Unfortunately those are all flavors that I probably wouldn't be interested in. I simply detest mint..

I smoke AF grape all the time.

Occasionally add some AF mint in my sessions.

Ive noticed changes in their product but its not that big of a deal.

Lost respect for AF after a terrible batch of mint and what I hope was a terrible batch of mango (seriously, I HOPE that was a mistake).

A little respect regained after I tried honey. It may not taste EXACTLY like honey, but I like the flavor and the consistency of the smoke.

alot of people are saying they don't like AF cuz of the QC, EVERY BRAND has a bad batch...there have been SEVERAL times when i could not get tangier acclimated correctly no matter what I did, or Fantasia produced weak smoke and harshness no matter how i packed it. Yea it sucks that you wasted your money on a bad batch, some may have wrose experiances than others but imo it's no reason to hate on something you once loved.
