Tips On The Scalli Mod?

So I got a scalli mod, after experiencing the phunnel...

First time I used it: not so good. I knew it was about packing. So the second time, I approached the packing differently. Great smoke! Third time, I thought I packed the bowl the same way... but I guess not! I knew right away the smoke was going to be mediocre, the pull was way too hard.

I forget what I packed the first smoke with; but the second was some left over Romman Cola from a 50 gram pack; the third was Al Fakher cherry. Now, I know the AF is much wetter than the Romman... could that have something to do with it?

On that third smoke, I even pulled some tobacco out after first packing it... because I tested the draw on just the phunnel and it was horrid. Removing tobacco and spreading what was left around the bowl helped, but not a lot.

What should I be aiming for here? Any tips, suggestions or other bon mots, appreciated.

i have a scalli mod from when i first bought my tangiers small phunnel and i used to use it all the time but now i dont use the scalli mod at all.
the bowls last longer without the mod probably because there is a little more tobacco.

I usde a tea light mod ( home made ) and it the pull is to hard i wigle it arond a little bit to loosen the shisha and it smokes good

If you must use the mod I think the rule of thumb was to put the tobacco around the mod so the mod can't move if you shake the bowl.

sounds like you are packing too tight. thats the only thing i could imagine giving you a hard draw. maybe poke more/bigger holes.

I pack it tight with the mod but I do a little something different. I use a Fumari poker (big toothpick will do) and I angle the holes to curve of the phunnel so i make big holes and push through the tobacco allowing better air flow through the tobacco. Give that a try.

I use the tea light mod myself, I am cheap. It is a complete hit and miss for me. Sometimes the bowl is amazing, other times it sucks. I think a lot has to do the with baccy. I always smoke Layalina. Last night, I smoked Kiwi and it was completely amazing!!! Tonight, I started with plum, it sucked, so I went to stawberry, still sucked, ended with Grape Lemon, it was better, but not nearly as good as the Kiwi. I am NOT referring to strictly taste either, I am commenting on the smoke clouds and thickness as well. I don't really know what I am doing wrong or right myself, so for right now I am chalking it to the baccy.

wow... deja vu that is EXACTLY what I do.

I don't think its the holes. I think it is the pack and the tobacco.

Maybe I just need to find a smaller phunnel.
