Hooka_bears
So a few months ago I bought a washable Nammor hose from a shop here in Chicago. I got it because it was washable, and would not rust. But it seems no matter how many times i wash it, there is still some weird lingering taste with whatever I smoke. I've used vinegar, lemon/lime juice, baking soda, soap, and just about every mix of those (except vinegar/baking soda, don't want a volcano in my hose ) So does anyone else have this problem, or do you have a different way of cleaning it? I'm wondering if I should just switch back to my cheapo mya hose.
SuburbanSmoker
I usually just hang my hoses and let them air out after i smoke mint and capp. takes about 3 days and they dont really taste like nething.
Codename067
Let me give you a couple suggestion to avoid that problem: Do not smoke the same flavor more than once though your hose. Mix flavors more often. Sticking to 1-flavored bowls will make your hoses smell of that 1 flavor only.If you pull on any of my KM hoses, you will never be able to determine what flavor you are getting. It's a light, subtle combination of a bunch of things that do not linger when smoking a different bowl.
Arcane
so, once i smoke horchata from my hose...i can never smoke horchata again without permanently ghosting the hose?
Zinite
QUOTE (arcane @ Mar 24 2009, 10:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>so, once i smoke horchata from my hose...i can never smoke horchata again without permanently ghosting the hose?I get what Codename is saying, but I have to respectfully disagree. I smoke the same flavors 5 or 6 times in a row, give the Nammor a little rinse with hot water/lemon juice, and it's pretty much good to go. If you take an inhale with the hose not plugged in, you get a weird smokey taste, but as soon as you plug it into the hookah, all you taste is the tobacco. Rani
I do something a little weird I guess compared to everyone else. I use a really thin stem brush on my Nammors and just dry brush the inside of the hose before washing it. Of course I don't smoke really strong flavors like mint so it could be I'm just being lucky that way. But since the plexi ends come off my Nammors it just seem logical to me. I brush from each end as deep as I can and then wash. Happens I use my face cleanser which is a all natural pineapple enzyme gel from Alba and that might be helping too.'Rani
mushrat
Is it ghosting a tobacco flavour or the weird garden hose taste? if its the garden hose taste, then you just have to smoke it out.

Lesiu
You can use lemon juice or vinegar to remove the taste.

Imsomint
I have this same problem with my Nammor. I have tried everything short of under-the-sink cleaning agents and still have a dank taste/smell in my hose. The closest thing to ridding it of said smell I have come to is using rubbing alcohol + dish soap followed by an intense rinsing procedure which involves the insertion of the business end of my high pressure garden hose nozzle into the plastic handle tube of the hose. Lesiu
You can try fill your hose with lemon juice and leave it for couple hours, maybe that will help.
Barnaby
get some 92% rubbing alcohol, and fill it up and let it sit for a bit. It'll clean it out. Stuff will clean most anything.. Or some cheap vodka will do the trick..
Stuie
Tangiers Cooling!!!I load up a bowl of that if I have a hose that's ghosting it's like cleaning out your hose with pure tobacco and smoking at the same time!!!!!

mustang_steve
Tips to minimize or avoid ghosting.1) blow out hoses within an hour of finishing the session...blow until no more moisure comes out...use a paper towel or such to determine when fluid is coming out.2) use a "Reem N Kleen" style pipe cleaner on the insides of both ends of the hose (this will strip color out of hoses with colored acrylic tips)...this will also help remove any residue or buildup that can't be easily blown out.3) clean the hose port thoroughly on the hookah...some folks forget this....use more of those "Reem N Kleen" pipe cleaners to assure it's completely clean from hose inlet to the opening on the stem. This combined with normal hookah maintenance will help keep a neutral characteristic to many hoses....this has worked very well with my KM hose, and also with my old H-S Syrian hose. smoke eater
I take a strip of tee-shirt, and a long piece of vinyl coated copper wire, and pull the soaking wet mini-rag through after rinsing the hose, then do it again with rag soaked in lemon juice, then a final high pressure rinse. Using a soft funnel and pressing on the faucet allows full rinsing force. This method works with my Nammor hose. LJ04
i've never experienced ghosting with my namor hoses, and i do smoke a lot of the same flavors regularly. i bought it bc of good reviews and that it was washable, but after the first out-of-the-box wash, i don't think i've washed it. just blow it out afterwards. i did experience ghosting once after smoking cinnamon, but i think that was more in the hookah than the hose.
