smokeandmirrors
Currently I smoke my hookah outside on the deck, or inside in the living room (which is a pretty large space). I've run the idea across my wife of having a session in the bedroom at night, since we both spend hours in bed doing grad school work before we finally go to sleep. She doesn't smoke, and is afraid that the hookah will make the bed sheets and everything else in the bedroom smell.Any truth in this? We have quite a large bedroom, so it's not like I'd be hazing the room out or anything, but I don't want to make her uncomfortable. She said she's fine with it if she can "still go to bed with the sheets smelling like lavender," but I don't think I'd take too kindly to lavender shisha. She also mentioned that the walls might turn yellow, but I think that only happens because of the tar in cigarettes. Anybody got an answer for this question? Thanks
Giant Ninja Robot
Should be fine, I've smoked in my small apartment bedroom with and without my wife alone and during, eh, um, happy times, and have had no residual scent...Does burning a candle leave a scent for more than a few hours at most?Open a window when done and all will be well. chinamon
shisha smoke doesnt linger around at all. it is vapour, not smoke.i have smoked in friends homes (while their parents were away) and these homes have NEVER been smoked in whether it be shisha, cigarettes, cigars, etc. my friends woke up the next morning and there was no smell in the house. FactorE
I smoke in my room everynight for about 2 hours sometimes more and it takes about 1 hour to air out afterwards with air filter system.
Codename067
A hint of smell might linger for a short amount of time, but then its all gone with in the minute. You should be just fine.
Boricua
Hookah smoke does not linger for long and it absolutely does not stain. I smoke every day in my living room and nothing here smells like hookah. I've also smoked in small rooms and same story. Only advice, you could open a window to help air the room out. inino
open the windows and you will be fine. if you try to turn the lights out right as your coals are done though it is going to probably bother her.

smokeandmirrors
Thanks for the quick answer everybody. Maybe tonight will be the night to introduce the wife to the hookah, lol
bayne
Don't light coals inside. Natural or QL, imo, stink for hours- if not days.
natgnat
I've actually had a smoke alarm go off from hookah smoke before...granted, i was about 5 feet away from it at the time, but still...It's definitely something to keep in mind.

Maybe tonight will be the night to introduce the wife to the hookah, lolyou could smoke in there whenever she's not in the house and whenever she gets home ask if something is out of order...really, myself, and none of my friends can smell anything a few minutes after a session is over; my mom, on the otherhand, can smell days after a session - it all depends on how sensative your wife's nose is
ilikemyusername
either way, its not going to "stink up" your room like a cigar will. if it does, you've done something horribly wrong.
delSol_si
When I lived in an apartment years ago, me and some friends smoked hookah in my room. My roommate didn't want the apartment to smell like hookah or something like that, so I put a towel under the door, closed the window (because I wanted the smoke to linger), and even had a fog machine going. I was disappointed when the smell of the hookah/shisha was gone in a few hours after we smoked.

Boricua
Hookah smoke will not trigger smoke alarms in my experience. I used to have a very small studio and I my smoke alarm was very very touchy but I could smoke right underneath the detector and it never gave me any problems. Quick light coals smoke though, when lighting up, could pose a small problem.
Arcane
damn...guess i'll be smoking outside still. i don't want to risk it.
