This Might Be A Stupid Question...

Recommended Posts

Currently I smoke my hookah outside on the deck, or inside in the living room (which is a pretty large space). I've run the idea across my wife of having a session in the bedroom at night, since we both spend hours in bed doing grad school work before we finally go to sleep. She doesn't smoke, and is afraid that the hookah will make the bed sheets and everything else in the bedroom smell.

Any truth in this? We have quite a large bedroom, so it's not like I'd be hazing the room out or anything, but I don't want to make her uncomfortable. She said she's fine with it if she can "still go to bed with the sheets smelling like lavender," but I don't think I'd take too kindly to lavender shisha. She also mentioned that the walls might turn yellow, but I think that only happens because of the tar in cigarettes. Anybody got an answer for this question?

Should be fine, I've smoked in my small apartment bedroom with and without my wife alone and during, eh, um, happy times, and have had no residual scent...Does burning a candle leave a scent for more than a few hours at most?

Open a window when done and all will be well.

shisha smoke doesnt linger around at all. it is vapour, not smoke.

i have smoked in friends homes (while their parents were away) and these homes have NEVER been smoked in whether it be shisha, cigarettes, cigars, etc. my friends woke up the next morning and there was no smell in the house.

Hookah smoke does not linger for long and it absolutely does not stain. I smoke every day in my living room and nothing here smells like hookah. I've also smoked in small rooms and same story. Only advice, you could open a window to help air the room out.

if it's actually vapor, would i be able to smoke in my room and not worry about setting off the smoke detector?

would the coals pose a problem though? Edited by arcane

ive heard stories of both sides, people setting of the detector, and people that smoke all the time without setting it off. put a beanie or trash bag on it just to be safe though. and towel on the bottom of the door.

ive smoked many bowls in non-smoking hotel rooms and none of the smoke detectors were ever triggered. however, when i was done smoking shisha and my friends decided to light up cigarettes, the smoke detectors went crazy.

Thanks for the quick answer everybody. Maybe tonight will be the night to introduce the wife to the hookah, lol

you could smoke in there whenever she's not in the house and whenever she gets home ask if something is out of order...really, myself, and none of my friends can smell anything a few minutes after a session is over; my mom, on the otherhand, can smell days after a session - it all depends on how sensative your wife's nose is

When I lived in an apartment years ago, me and some friends smoked hookah in my room. My roommate didn't want the apartment to smell like hookah or something like that, so I put a towel under the door, closed the window (because I wanted the smoke to linger), and even had a fog machine going. I was disappointed when the smell of the hookah/shisha was gone in a few hours after we smoked.

either way, its not going to "stink up" your room like a cigar will. if it does, you've done something horribly wrong.

haha. yeah, my girlfriend hates every kind of tobacco smoke and loves her some hookah. and she seriously has 6, maybe more, scented plug-ins (not bc of hookah smoke). she's very particular about the way the place smells. i'd talk her into a short session to see. pick a flavor/smell she likes! ya know, second to lavender.

Hookah smoke will not trigger smoke alarms in my experience. I used to have a very small studio and I my smoke alarm was very very touchy but I could smoke right underneath the detector and it never gave me any problems.

Quick light coals smoke though, when lighting up, could pose a small problem.
