Al Amir Flavor (Review)

Recommended Posts

Date: 20 March 2006Session: ~ 9:30-10:30
Flavor: Al Amir Raspberry
Location: Raleigh, NC (Outdoors)Session Weather: Light rain, light winds, ~ 40°FCoals used: 3 Kings (Q)uick (L)ights
Nose:  Great smell.  Very sweet to the nose, and very intriguing.  Not a candy flavor, but still somwhat artifical.  9/10
Flavor:  Sweet, addicting, and very pleasant.  No smoky flavor overtones.  Clean taste.  10/10
Smoke Density:  Light to medium.  I was oustide with a very gentle breeze and nearly 40°F.  No wind cover, so the coals may have been burning cooler than usual.  The light smoke did well with this one.  It allowed the flavor to come out less tainted. 7/10
Overall:  Decent smoke (86%).  May have had some human error but it was a very pleasant session.  I found myself looking for food afterwards.  Would prolbably pare well with a fruit cheese, light flavored white wine or, of course berries.  Perhaps a nice brandy or a sweet tasting burbon would do well too.  I throuoghly enjoyed it.  Definatley a new favorite.  I cant beleive i held off 4 days before trying it.

Love that review, its fresh, informative and includes weather data!Lets not forget, when I test flavors, I don't test them once, I can't...its not reasonable. One of the key factors is it stable day in and day out? Is it enjoyable ("rewatchable" in movies)? Some flavors started well and then I found upon smoking it 20 times, a problem arose that made it crummy.
