Giant Ninja Robot
So if you're a fan you know it's been 5 years since Doom (he now goes simply by Doom) released an album. You'll also know that last year was the year of the "Doomposter" scandal in which a fake Doom would come on stage lip synch for 15 minutes run off stage leaving tons of fans who paid good money to see Doompissed as hell. There was much speculation of this being a publicity stunt for a new album.Well, that wasn't really the case but out of NOWHERE with no publicity whatsoever that I know of, he dropped a new album last week called "Born Like This".It's damn good classic Doom stuff.Just so you fans know, pick it up. There's one track that I'm not sure about that's pretty homophobic, and I'm not sure if it's sarcasm or not but apart from that it's good good stuff. Dr. B
You forgot Operation Doomsday and Venomous Villain. That Anti-matter track from King Geedorah with Mr Frantastik was dope.I usually like heavier, rawer stuff but I'm a Doom fan regardless. I'll check it out.

ZWAN
I hope this CD marks Dooms comebackive been waiting too long for the ghostface/doom cd to come out
Giant Ninja Robot
I wouldnt hold breath for the ghostface/doom collab. I've heard that Ghost's last album was more or less a sellout album. I still need to check for myself.I would def say that IF it comes out and IF Ghost can stick to his good material without getting too ghetto it could be an AMAZING album.Do they have any other comps besides Doom's production on Fishscale and the collab on Dangerdoom? ZWAN
Well theres the Sniperlite http://www.stonesthrow.com/store/12-inch/d...doom/sniperlitebut thats really just Doom and Ghost going over dilla beatsI thought Fishscale was a pretty good album, mostly due to production because of the Dilla, Pete Rock, and Doom beatsthough I like it less and less the more I hear it, theres only so much drug rap a man can takeimo Ghostface should stop releasing so much material and strive for consitency

Vaudeville villian, Operation: Doomsday! and Madvillain are my favorites. Anyways, I was a little disappointed in Born Like This. It's a great album, but no where near DOOM (All big letters but it isn't no acronym) at his best. From the intro and throughout Lightworks, this album is fantastic. After that it kinda splits in different directions. Some great songs, some not so great, and some where the beat doesn't go well with his flow at all. I was very disappointed in the change of Angelz (old version: good; new version: bad) that snare is really horrible. Cellz is great, and so is Bukowski. Absolutely is my favorite from the album.I hear voices is still the best MF Doom-track.
Scoop
personally, i like doom on the de la soul track - rock co. cane flow the best, in terms of his verses.
Giant Ninja Robot
After further listening I think "Born Like This" gets a little murky in the middle. I find myself repeating the first 7 or so tracks again and again and just getting stuck 1/2 way through, then it picks up again later on. I REALLY dont understand why that female emcee cameo is sooo long, especially on an album almost completely void of guests.Still very worth it, Madvillain still my favorite so far. I'll have to check out the albums reccomended for sure, thanks y'all.

Maybe it's just that he's monotonous, but he doesn't hit the beat with his words consistently.I like I hear voices but I'ma throw Rap Snitches in the mix. I like Mr Fantastik's style. All caps when you spell my name.

Maybe it's just that he's monotonous, but he doesn't hit the beat with his words consistently. That's true, but not really what I was talking about. I've always found the whole 'outside the beat'-thing and monotonous voice to work very well for him, but I do think it limits the range of beats that will work really well a little (not that he doesnt have a great variety of tracks that works fantastically). But the only track that really doesnt work for me is More Rhymin'. ZWAN
do you think he raps better over his own beats or others?
Balthazar
That's hard to say, don't think I have an answer to that. I usually find him to be great both on his own an on other peoples beats. Really like his compilations with Madlib, Dangermouse and others, but I also like a lot of his own beats. Also, for those of you who missed it, check out DOOM's songs on "White Van Music" (Jake One beats): Trap Door and Get 'Er Done.
