I was just thinking about it last night, after I used Scoop's method of packing. With his method, I'm thinking I'll get around 4-5 bowls out of my 250g using a small phunnel. Then I thought about it some more...at $12-15/package, that's roughly $3-5/bowl. With a 250g of Starbuzz(let's say at $20), I'll get around 10-15+ bowls depending on if I use an egyptian or phunnel. So that's ~$1-2/bowl. We all complain about how expensive SB is, but given a per bowl basis...it seems that SB is the better deal. And if you throw AF or Nakhla into the mix, it's practically a steal in comparison. However, IMO, the per hour comparison along with the performance (flavor/smoke) of Tangiers far exceeds Starbuzz.Just wanted to hear everyone else's thoughts.Note: I do not think Tangiers is overpriced at all and am gladly purchasing more and more if it constantly. Tangiers is so in a class by itself (even, bearing in my, that I have only smoked like 3 bowls of it so far), that its hard to do the $$'s/bowl calculation the way you might with another brand. I've been sitting on three quarters of a kilo of new tangy that simply will not acclimate even after three weeks. The hassle involved with Tangy severely cuts into it's overall quality rating IMO. Just my .02.As for packing and value, this occured to be before as well. This could possibly be altered through using a mod such as the tealight mod. evilded777 Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Weather out there in SD really stinks, don't it?My primary support people for my banking system are in Sioux Falls so I hear about it every couple of days.I've been lucky so far, and think everything except maybe my OG Apple has acclimated without issue (weird how the one I think I may be having trouble with is the one Eric says he smokes when everything else is having issues!). Scoop Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 starbuzz in a small egyptian bowl has 45mins of flavor, in a small phunnel nearly the same amount of tobacco as tangiers it gets 1.5hours to 2 hours max. tangiers in a small phunnel, in my experience, ive smoked up to 4 hours. depends how often you smoke and for how long. personally ill stick with tangiers. inino Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 mini phunnel can get about 10 bowls i think, that tase much better and smoke much better than SB. But its all about preference i guess. So if you like SB more, then you should smoke it. if you dont like SB more than you shouldnt regardless of the price. No one said this hobby was cheap lol. JDHarding Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 I usually pack pretty heavily and tightly into my small Tang phunnel. I also rarely, if ever, finish the whole bowl. So when I'm taking the foil off, I usually toss the foil and whatever's crusted on it in the trash, then scoop the rest back into the tub. That is if it's not crusty or burnt. redjako Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Well with a medium phunnel and my method (I cram the tobacco in there with my palm, then scrape off the fluff) I'll get 3-3.5 rounds of coals on the sucker...thats about three hours, and many times theres still good tobacco left at the very bottom...put it back in the container Its definately a deal, but novice smokers can't handle the nicotine of OG etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Giant Ninja Robot Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 If we're talking value we should look to the closest shisha to Tangiers, namely Nakhla.Both are unwashed and use little to no dye, both are packed fairly tight in a phunnel for best results, both have great strong flavor, however one is twice the cost of the other. You can also take into account that barring the newer nakhla which seems much juicier, Nakhla traditionally needs some honey/agave and glycerine to produve the level of cloud that Tang does.For pure cost effectiveness I go with Nakhla however Eric is a master at releasing phenomenal flavors so as untill Nak releases orange soda I'll be buying both.Can't wait to try more Tangiers but cost does play into my decisions. EternalSoil Posted April 3, 2009 Share Posted April 3, 2009 i buy it by the kilo and smoke about 75% of a small phunnel a day...i cant remember exactly how long it lasts though...looking at previous orders, seems like 1 kilo lasted me about 3 months... that may not be at the rate i smoke now though.Now though... 500g of Tangiers plus maybe 1.5 bowls left before i got more on about march 13th. I probably have about 2/3 left...so lets see here ~530g * ~ 2/3 smoked = ~353g. so 353g in 21 days = ~ 17g. mini phunnel so not too bad.so 250 / 17 = ~ 14.7 which sounds about right to me.if you're only getting 4-5 bowls you are using a lot. is your phunnel a medium? you might want to get a smaller one.
