BigSexyPanda
Well, like the title says. I found a pretty solid crack on the outside of my vase. I freaked out right when I saw it because I just got the thing, but I tested it. I just tried seeing if I could draw from the vase and it was still air tight. These KM vases are so damn thick, it just cracked on the outside and being that it's glass looks like it went all the way through, but it didn't. Whew. Anyone else had any bad stories about broken vases or maybe some close calls? How much are KM vases anyways?

Anyone else had any bad stories about broken vases or maybe some close calls? How much are KM vases anyways?i have on in particular. i ordered my zakiy a while ago, and after many screw ups and the delivery guy completely missing my house and me calling FedEx he came back and i finally got my pipe. when he handed the box over i heard a rattle/jingle in the box and immediately thought the worst, but then i eased my nerves and thought 'maybe it's just the head that's broken' or, 'it's probably just the stem hitting the tray.' when i opened the box my worst thoughts were realized when i saw shards of blue glass EVERYWHERE. aw dick. LUCKILY i had an extra large egyptian base that i was just using to keep all of my cleaning brushes in. so i go get the extra base and check it out. i rinsed everything and gave it a good look-over before filling it with some water and then i realized a little spot on the bottom where the brushes were sitting and i could identify it as what i thought to be rust. so i put the water on as hot as i can get it to flush that shit out - fail. after this i thought hotter water would do the trick; i put on the kettle for two reasons 1) to flush the base and 2) to have some tea. water boiling, i poured it in the base - CRACK. aw bob saget. 1 day; 2 broken bases. i went to a local arab market to go get a replacement that turned out to be a very good fit until the new one got here, which is beautiful. 'KM' vases range from about 17 - 24 bucks depending on which vendor you go to. i buy no name egyptian replacement bases locally for about 12.
