LJ04
i watched the movie so i know how to get snakes on a plane, but what about hookahs, tobacco, and coals? my girlfriend and i are headed to colorado saturday, and i'd like to take the hookah with us, but i'm not sure how the people searching my bag would like that? any suggestions, or experiences good or bad?thanks! Voski
There are a few posted about this already. I took my hookah from Los Angeles to San Francisco. They opened my dufflebag and I had to explain what it was and put it together. The xray guy laughed and said it was a peace pipe (I think it's ok to say peace pipe or does it need to be nht?). I also had 250g AF grape with 4-5 rolls of quicklights. One time I also brought back a hookah from Europe with coals and charcoal. So you should be fine. I was taking my mya mini acrylic and they were worried about the "blunt/club object".

Dylank0010
QUOTE (jeremyk @ Apr 6 2009, 09:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>my girlfriend brought me a hookah back from egypt with no problems from airport securityDifferent airports have different security measures. Idc what the TSA says. When I was in 8th grade I went to Israel and was talking with some of the security guards at the US embassy. One of them gave me a .223 casing that he had drilled out and emptied and made into a necklace with the bullet still set in. I thought it was awesome. I've been shooting my dad's ar15 since I was little so I thought it was excellent. I went through Ben Gurion airport and all the security guys thought it was hilarious. When I got into Heathrow on my way home everyone thought I was "having a laugh" or a "yankee nutter" or whatever it is that British people say these days. Maybe some of the British forum members can clairfy. But long story short, some places/particular people will care and others will not. I've taken my hookah with minimal supplies from SFO to Logan twice now without issue but that's not to say that there never will be an issue. The way I did it was I wrapped the base in bubblewrap and put it in my carry-on and put everything else, disassembled, in a cardboard box in my checked bag with " HOOKAH STUFF" written as large as possible across the box. They still cut it open but nothing was missing.
Sahara Smoke Co
For coals they're less likely to take naturals than quick lights due the the chemicals in quick lights that can be considered a breach of TSA policy.
Hooka_bears
I actually just went to florida with my QT in my check-in luggage. I had two rolls of coals with it. They went through my stuff, and opened the coals package and took out about 1/2 from each roll. They had the nerve to put the broken coals back in my suitcase. Opened it when I got to Florida, clothes were covered in black charcoal.Atleast next time I go I know they have a hookah shop their, so you might want to check if they have a shop you save yourself the hassle (or maybe get lucky like the people above!) Dylank0010
yeah I didn't take coals with me. local grasshopper shop carries quicklights so i just picked up a couple rolls once i was home. that sucks all your stuff was dusted with coals afterwards... not surprising though given the state of the travel industry. jayeee07
Instead of making a new topic, can I post a related question here? If not just ignore it and I'm sorry..Anyone have a link or first hand knowlege as to what you're allowed to bring back/ship back from Egypt in regards to hookahs? I want to bring back a good amount of hookahs and hookah related stuff but I don't want to waste money and have it taken away.. I was thinking between 10-15 hookahs and 5ish kilos of shisha.. Is that rediculasly out of the question?

So does that mean I can bring back two, my mom can bring back two, and my dad can, or just 2 per group/family? Either way 2k of shisha will last me the entire summer Any thoughts on how many hookahs? I'm thinking any more than 2-3 and they might get pissed unless it is legal to bring them back and sell a few to friends?

I'm probably going to have to bring a box or two to fit all these hookahs. I'll have to think of ways to bring these back so they won't be harmed, thats something to think about

Hookahs as many as u want.not necessarily. my friend came back from jordan with 10 hookahs, they realized he was trying to take them back to sell them and made him pay a huge fine or get them confiscated. It is not legal to bring things to sell without paying some sort of import taxes or something like that i think.
