Music Finds!

Recommended Posts

I collect music. I love music. Alot. I perform music, it's more or less my life. Though I'm far from a cratedigger I love perusing used record shops for cds and old records to see what I can snag. Once in a great while I'll grab up something from Best Buy if I really want it now or it's a new release I simply must have.

Yesterday I went to a place called Record Time and picked up a couple gems:

I got I, Phantom by Mr. Lif, which is super cool because I didn't have any of his stuff other than his Perceptionist's album with Akrobatik, and he's coming to Detroit in June

track called Earthcrusher

I also got a 2 disk compilation called Solesides Greatest Bumps, which is the Quannum Records crew in their early days, primarily DJ Shadow, Chief Xcel, Gift of Gab, Lateef, and Lyrics Born when he was still Asia Born. REALLY hyped on this one, it's got some awesome raw early material, buncha freestyles, and fun tracks.

Early Gab and Shadow from the album

In the discount bin I found a weird album I wanted years ago by Soul Junk called 1958. Tripped out avant guarde artsy hip hop noise.

Last week I picked up MF DOOM's new joint and One Day As A Lion EP which is Zach De La Rocha and the old drummer from Mars Volta.

Next week I'll be picking up the NEW K-OS ALBUM CALLED "YES!" WHICH I AM SUPER EXCITED ABOUT!!!!

first single http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRlzM4a1ll0

POST UP YOUR INTERESTING OR EXCITING FINDS!!!!!!!

I've listened to solo Thes One, some other Tres Records dudes, and a little Pete Rock but I'll keep on the look out for some albums from them, thanks Mint.

Since I generally download my music I don't really think of anything I download a "find" although I have been meaning to update my vinyl collection. Most recent records I bought were Ratatat's Self-Titled album as well as Coachwhips' "Peanut Butter And Jelly Live At The Ginger Minge" album. I am keeping an eye out for MSTRKRFT's new album "Fist of God" on vinyl at the local record store.

this is becoming a problem....

I stopped when i was out at a local shop and picked up a Fear Before the March of Flames album (The Always Open Mouth) on a whim, I'd never heard them before but love it from what I've listened to, and I picked up a Badly Drawn Boy album (Have You Fed the Fish?) because some girls I used to hang out with in highschool loved him, it's pretty good too.

Somebody stop me......naw they were only 4 bucks and after the K-Os album I'm done for a while
