Does anyone here enjoy car audio? If so talk about it here! What you have or what you want, or any questions. If this thread sucks then tell me and I'll delete it(if you can do that here).

I had a 10" Kicker L5, but just got a Fi Q. I only have a 600wrms MTX amp from my kicker but eventually I'm going to get an AudioQue 1200.1. I have Alpine type R coax's up front and brand new OEM pioneers in the back. The car is a scion tC. For the headunit I have a Pioneer F70BT. If anyone wants to see some pictures just let me know. I know its nothing special at all but for a high school senior its not bad.

Where is the stock sub located in the tC? I quickly glanced but didn't find anything.

Also fyi in a rollover, the tC holds up super good.

Drive a saab 9-3 2003. Its got the standard system (bose 5.2: 3 front speakers on the dash, 2 behind the passengers heads, 2 subs in the door), with a kicker compcvr 12" in the trunk. 750 watt amp for the kicker.

Yeah the 08 has a stock sub, I just did a quick google search and it is located under the floor somewhere.

After rolling it back in August of last year, I am just now starting to fix it. Big mess of an accident.

Other than window tint, I didn't do much. I planned on getting the trd turbo kit and maybe a decent exhaust. I don't want much more than that.

Gotcha, window tint is an awesome investment. I got 5% and have loved it ever sense. Nighttime driving kind of stinks but its worth it. TRD makes a turbo? Last I checked they only had a supercharger, turbo with warantee would be awesome!

Oh you can get much better subs than a stealthbox for cheaper.. If you're seriously interested and want some advice lmk

And you are right about the supercharger. I was looking at both and got the two mixed up. There is a cheap turbo kit on ebay I have no clue if it is worth risking the purchase.

I had a pretty lound sub and amp in my old car. I had one of the first Fi subs (12") the box took up the entire trunk of my golf. I had an old school Rockford Foagate 1100 watt amp which put out way more then that. I sold it though. Now I have focals all sound with a 12" focal sub in the trunk.

i used to be really in to the whole car audio thing when i was in high school (1992-1997) and did many installs for friends back then.
i still enjoy a nice sounding system but im not absolutely nuts for it like i used to be.

i drive a 1997 civic ex sedan
alpine cda-9827 head unit (yes i know its old)
pioneer 6.5" two way coaxials in the door
sony 6x9" three way coaxials in the rear
jl audio 250/1 amp
jl audio 12w3-v2 in a sealed enclosure

Have you ever heard one in person? My friend (not really friend, we go to school together) has that exact same setup with a nice amp and its not impressive at all. I've heard  stock subs sound almost as good

I don't think you should go with prefab boxes unless it is designed for that sub. Just pick a sub you like and go to a good shop and have them make you a box that fit your subs requirements. Alternatively you can make the box yourself.

My current car stereo is a conglomerate of all the equipment that's lasted since high school...never quite finished it since the car has some engine problems and I'm broke...

-Creative Labs Zen Vision MP3 player connected to P1R
-Diamond Audio 600s 6.5 inch components w/ silk dome tweeters
-Two Infinity Beta 15 inch dual voice coil subs
-Junk Rockford Fosgate 50X2 amp for the tweets
-Junk Earthquake 85X2 amp for the mids
-Xtant 301a 300 watt monoblock amp for the subs

The Beta 15s and Xtant combo gives such tight bass....clean, controlled power and efficient lightweight subs. The subs and sub amp have been in my three different cars over tens years! I can push it as hard as I want, the amp has never shut down in the ten years I've owned it. Overall, I love how it sounds, the bass is the strong point and the front amps are the weak points.

Here's the system I just installed in my brother's car....he has all the money so it's pretty much all the equipment I'd put in my car if I had the money. However, I would have gone with three 10 inch subs and of course this isn't my dream system...that would be much more expensive.

-99 VW Jetta
-Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS headunit, tri-amplified network mode w/ time alignment and active crossovers
-Diamond Audio 600s components, 6.5 inch mids w/ silk dome tweeters
-Two Infinity Perfect 12 inch subwoofers
-Pioneer Premier PRS-D4200F 75X4 powering the Diamond Audio mids and tweets
-Pioneer Premier PRS-D1200M 600X1 @ 2 ohms powering the subs
-Streetwires power cables, RCA cables, speaker wires, battery terminals, fuse, and distribution block

We built angled speaker brackets for the 6.5s in the doors, an amp rack, and a custom box. Here's some pics...

It sounds pretty amazing and it was a lot of fun tearing the car down and installing everything. We finished the front of the box and amp rack w/ marbled vinyl tile and the back of the box w/ carpet. The box isn't too deep so there is still a half trunk. Looking inside the car, the only evidence of a system is the head unit until you flip down the back seat. Of course everything is bolted down w/ straps and special head screws....no shortcuts taken anywhere.

if you want to see pics of what i had done to mine (quite a bit) pm me. engine/suspension. audio was nexxt if you want to hear my design it was by far the sweetest thing ever. only seen it on one other tC throughout the entire internet.

Yes I've heard them in a few different TC's, for $200 your not gonna get much better. What amp is your friend running and how much power is he puttin to it?

ED is the best bang for your buck, i have seen many hit very hard esp in a tC

Nice kits guys! Its good to see that you guys have actually have good kit in your car (damn I want an Fi Q!!) and not cheap stuff! The only other forum I ever use is a car audio one and I only though people with good equipment can only be found there, but you guys proved me wrong!

and no its not underpowering them, when i had that amp pushing one 12inch it was overheating it after about 5-10 minutes of use...

The amp was overheating or the sub? Because I thought the type X's were supposed to take 1krms each. If the amp's overheating it doesn't mean the sub isn't overpowered

The amp was overheating or the sub? Because I thought the type X's were supposed to take 1krms each. If the amp's overheating it doesn't mean the sub isn't overpowered

the sub was overheating not the amp. and just because something is rated that high, doesnt mean it can actually take that much power continuously
