Car Audio

My kicker took 300wrms more than it was rated for 2 years then i got a new amp which was 300wrms more than THAT and it finally blew a voice coil. Most of my friend including the ones big in car audio would rather overpower than under..

used to be really into it. was all about the re XXXs and the adire brahma.

last car was a lease and i didn't feel like going crazy, just put infinity reference series speakers in, polk momo 12" with a rf punch 500.2 amp bridged. nothing special at all but it worked.

I put this system in my 98 Accord a few years ago

I have 2 Alpine Type S Subs
Alpine Type S rears
Pheonix Gold Z.R6.5 Fronts
Pheonix Gold Xenon 600.1
Phenoix Gold Rsd250 2Channel Amp
Alpine CDA9856

I want to upgrade but I really dont feel like tearing apart my car to put in new wires as I am running 2 and 4 gauge wires, plus my accord has like 156K miles on it probably will run for quite a wile but I dont want to put any more money into it.

I want better subs, I like the front speakers I have A LOT.. I think they were the best 70 dollar front speakers money could buy.... But my dream subs are RD Elite Subs.... 3 12 inch subs depending what kind of car I put it in smile.gif

RD is top quality stuff... http://www.rdaudio.net/index.htm

mine is simple, kicker 400.1 mono amp, kicker comp 10 sub.

that looks like my setup but backwards! holy shit i have a pass through like that, im totally turning my box around and opening that up...or maybe just opening that up.

if you put up the arm rest, will the sub push it back down?

Have an 07 Tiburon mostly appearance mods and such, but had a custom sub box with two 12" infinity 1250's powered by a 1000 watt infinity amp that setup got boring so ripped it out...

ATM I have infinity 6 1/2" speakers in the front doors, and Infinity 6x9's in the back with a dual 8184 (I believe is the model number) head unit w/ the 7" touch screen flip out blah blah... gets the job done I guess.

I guess I'll throw my previous setup out there, I don't have anything currently in my Civic as what I was using in my CR-V just won't fit in it's current configuration. In the CR-V I had:

Alpine CDA9857 Headunit
DLS UP6i Component speakers up front
x4 Elemental Designs 11ov.2 10" subs in a sealed box
Elemental Designs NINe.1 Amp to the subs puttin out 1200 watts
Elemental Designs NINe.2 Amp to the speakers puttin out 200 Watts

I miss having a big stereo in the car sad.gif The civic is a 2000 EX that needs quite a bit of work to get to perfect shape, it runs like a dream, but the exterior isn't in the best shape and the interior isn't either. I'm not to worried about the exterior as it's a daily driver so appearance isn't everything, but I still don't have the necessary cash to go ahead with a big stereo build inside, deadening will just be too costly at this moment with all the rattles in this damn car. But when the time does come that I can afford it I'll be stickin my eD amps back inside(or maybe some Zapco's) with hopefully a 3 way set of DLS speakers and a eD 13av.2 for a sub. Or it may wait until I buy a new car, which I'm hoping will be a BMW 135i, or a used 350z or something but that's prolly a year off.

nope. i had removed the plastic housing of the ski pass a long time ago, so i figured why not face the sub through it. it actually sits perfectly behind the seat, the speaker is not touching any metal and the armrest doesnt hit it when its up.

In my regular cab silverado I have two Toxik audio tens that hit really hard in a ported box. I have powerbass 600 watt rms amp pushing them.
I also run JL components in the doors and the head unit is a JCV EL KAMELEON. These pics are older back when I just had a 300 watt kicker amp powering both of the subs.

Ok after to talking to a few people in the chat last night and finding out a HUGE amount of info on car audio I thought I would post here to help finalize my order before I purchase! Speakers are going in a 06' Honda CRV and I am looking for loudness over quality and trying to keep my full set up under a grand more like 850 smile.gif

Door speakers (Front + Rear): http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7427_JBL+GTO637.html
Receiver: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17192_Clarion+CZ309.html
Mono Amp and Sub box: Are both undecided and recommendations would be Great!!
Sub: Bunch of different subs from Kicker to choose from I want a 15" and spend 230$ but dont know which one to choose.

What else am I going to need for wiring and so on would like links if possible and keep it all from the same place..

I'd probably get these instaed of the JBL's, just because I havn't had any experience with them and have heard amazing things about polk

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9110_P...dio+db651s.html

Haven't heard much about those headunits because I got an indash and didn't really pay any attention to those. Clarion is supposed to be good but not as good as alpine or some pioneers.

Sub: Kicker L5 or L7 with a hifonics amp in a custom built box would sound awesome. Thats my recomendation. Box makes all the difference. reaudio.com has a box calculator, its nice.

Thanks jay I went to best buy on Saturday and picked up this head unit:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18257_...ampaign=froogle

Little bit more then I planed on spending but what the hell.. I also picked up the wire harness and dash kit and got it all installed that day. But damn it definitely brought my factory speakers to life I can tell the difference! I ordered those polk audio speakers last night so I hope to install those next weekend and then may by order my sub's, and amp next weekend. I found this deal:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_14672_...+08ZX400.1.html

It looks decent what do you think?

Thanks

I'm not into car stereos as much as I used to. I currently have 1 MB Quart 12" sub hooked to a 1200 watt Audiobahn amp if I remember correctly. I think it is 1200, not positive, I know it is insane though. JVC head unit. This is in my Honda delSol si.

Here is the stuff I have but don't have hooked up anymore: 2 Alpine 6x9s., a 300 watt Planet Audio amp, a 600 watt Planet Audio amp, another 12" MB Quart subwoofer, a 4-1 power splitter, and a Rockford Fosgate Capacitor. I used to have all of this shit hooked up to my old car, but it won't fit in my new one and don't care enough to hook up the capacitor again. (can't fit a hole lot in a delSol) Edited by delSol_si
