Well when i forgot how many coals i had used so i had put more on then realized i needed to repack the bowl.

When i picked it up it was unusually hot. much more than normal, but i didnt think much of it. I did blow on it cause it was really hot... I think that might have done it.

You guys should be fine with yours, just dont try to cool them down in anyway. let them cool on their own.

You gotta remember, because of the small surface area, the coal almost always sits on the outer rim. but i had it packed really really high this time so it wasnt really even sitting on it.

Two coals shouldn't be enough to do anything. They get fired at way higher temperatures then that. Maybe you dropped it earlier or someone else did and it cracked/scored/damaged it.

I know for a fact it didnt get dropped or anything. I have been the only person to touch it since i have had it and it didnt leave the hookah since it was last packed.

As far as the heat, i would think that since it was more direct heat on one part of it and not all over like when they are cooked.

There's a chance it was damaged before firing. If so they likely would have repaired it trying to salvage it and see if it made it through the firing - a what the hell worth a try rather than just trash it sceniaro. The glazing would have hidden the damage if it made it through the firing but would leave it structuraly weakened. On the outside it would have looked fine though and probably good to go. The fact that it felt really hot in your hand would indicate heat was getting inside the ceramic itself which is what leads me to think it was a prior to firing flaw. I'm not a ceramics expert, but I've had clay statues do similar things during firing. Only because there's no glazing it tends to show.

MAN!

I went from crying when I saw the pics and heard the story to rejoicing at Eric's offer in like 30 seconds.

What an emotional rollercoaster!

Congrats on a new mini though!

oh and my boy got a oasis green, celadon frost combo and it looks great, I'm sure the green/blue will as well.
