willbb123
As you may or may not know I work as a Lighting designer for a theater in Iowa. I like to say that its a theater that thinks its a road house. We do plays and musicals but we are starting to do alot of concerts. We get alot of singer songwriter groups, which are good, but they all start to sound the same after a while. During most of these shows I could take a nap, every song sounds the same, use alot of blues, purple, hardly ever use amber. Change the look beween songs, hardly ever during the song. Defantitly no "flash 'n trash".Well I've known for a few months that we were getting Lez Zeppelin. I got the rider and we all assumed that they were bringing there own LD, so all I would do is supervise. But a few days before I was told that they were not bringing a LD and I would be doing lights. I was super excited! Finally a group that I could have fun with.In the lighting booth I could kinda hear the music, but I was mostly hearing the sound after it had bounced, so I couldnt understand most it. But its Zeppelin so I know the music. Heres a link to them on iTunes if you are interested in hearing them. I had alot of fun running the show. They let me do whatever I wanted, gobo rotaters on the floor and strip lights. Because of the volume level I couldnt communicate to my two spot ops, but I could with our headsets. The problem was that I would be using both hands on the board and wouldnt be able to press the talk button. So I told them just to do what they thought looked right. I trust our crew and they did a great job. Here are my favorite pics of the night. I had so much fun. I wish we had more concerts like this. Hojo
I saw them live last year at Bonnaroo. While I can't knock the vocalist for not sounding exactly like Robert Plant (and really, who can replicate that?), the band sounded amazing. The guitarist nailed everything, including the solo played with a violin bow, and everyone was on top of their game when it came to covering the legendary Led Zeppelin. It also doesn't hurt that the lead singer is ridiculously attractive.

I think that they went to the local "gay bar" after the show. Take that anyway you want to.
