Hookah defect?

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a 22" egyptian hookah from socialsmoke.com and was
extremely impressed by the service, price, and quality.  This is
the first hookah I have owned, and after the first bowl or so I found
that the stem was wobbling a little bit and there was a ever-so-tiny
air leak.  I checked out the base, and at the top on the inside
there's a little "lip", if you will, that is obviously designed to
ensure a snug fit between the stem/grommet/base.  Part of this
lip, though, is nonexistent, which creates a small gap that is
responsible for the wobbling of the stem and the tiny air leak (not
even very noticeable, mostly just concerned with the wobbling).  I
took a few photos and uploaded them so you guys could check them out
and give me advice on what to do.  I would normally just e-mail or
call the company (social smoke in this case), but since I smoked a few
bowls out of it already I am not sure if the proper thing to do is to
try and return it or just to buy a new base.
Please check out the pictures, and maybe it's not even that big of a
deal, but I know that the people on here will know what the best course
of action will be.
Thanks a lot!  I really appreciate your help.
oh, and I'm sorry for being kinda suck-ish with a digital camera.

A couple of my glass bases that I've owned in the past have had this
same thing as well. My base didn't really wobble and the defect didn't
really hurt anything like let air out, but I do recognize this defect.

Because socialsmoke aimes to please, you shouldn't have a problem
dealing with them. Just read their return/exchange policy on the site
and just follow procedure, and you should be fine.

Good luck, and let us know.

That looks like a glass blowing defect, definately not a user defect.
Link them to the page and see what they say about it. I mean it's not
like it's chipped, it's more difficult to tell if something like that
happened in shipping, pre-shipping, or the customer...but something
that's as bizarre as that most likely happened in the factory.

Real common in crappy glass...If the whole is round and true, its no big deal, you just have to tighten the seal slightly, if the hole isn't true, then you need a replacement. Wobbly sucks, but its not a returnable offense (I always cherry pick my jars).
