Nakhla

Recommended Posts

I bought some 50g packs of nakhla to try, while back i got some nak mint which has good flav etc. so far iv tried nakhla peach and i get no flavour what so ever its just wierd tasting , smells awsome but just cant get any flavour the same goes with some af grape smells a little wierd and i get no flavour, some af 2 apples i get a bit of aniseed flavour through, iv tryed chaning packing stile, hole stile, to layers of foil or 1 more or less coal i just cant seem to get anywhere. 1 thing i have found good is making the foil double thikness shisha lasts so much more and still get good smoke. any 1 have any ideas on what im doing wrong ? cheers

2 apples is gonna have an anise flavor to it either way, you can air it out some to help reduce the amount of anise.. but that's why I don't like double apple, because I don't like licorice.

I have found that the best packing method that works for me is to pack a bit denser than you would typical shishas like AF or Fusion, but less than you would with Tangiers. Aside from that, keep experimenting and hopefully you can develop a method that works for you too.

I have noticed that the 50's dont tend to have as much flavor. Why I dont know, my best guess is they dont sell as many since people can spend a little more and get a 250. I have also noticed that if you add a little glycerin it seems to get the flavor going, not to much though just enough to get it a little wetter.

pack tight with lots of heat. nak can take it! if it still doesnt have flavor, maybe your hose, stem, or base is dirty. give it a deep cleaning and report back.

+1

exactly, this is definitely the way to pack nakhla. for instance, in my small tangiers phunnel i pack it down just above the rim and smash it down. then i put 4 cocos on top to get it started and then 3 with the fourth standing up on its side.

a while ago i talked to eric and brought up something ver obvious but that i had not thought of before; tobacco is a better conductor of heat than the air is, so pack it more dense so that the heat doesn't have to travel through large pockets of air and the head can heat more evenly...if that makes sense

well i might do a good clean through my rig, the only 2 i can get flavour from is nak mint and af 2 apples, even the herbal stuff i tryed i dident even get a touch of flav when every 1 else is able to notice flavor (salaam), and the 2 apples of nak that i opened is wet as for nak, the apricot isnt as much its seems to more tacky but stil wetter then the nak mint i have which seems slimey. il upload a pic of the 2 apples.

Did you let it acclimate for a bit? It helped me with my DA.
I'm in the same boat as far as flavor is concerned. Don't smoke cigs but still can't taste anything except the strongest flavors. I'd recommend Nakhla Earl Grey, Sweet Melon, and Mango. Loads of flavor, even I can taste it tongue.gif

Please NEVER add glycerin to Nakhla. They make it that way not to save money on the shisha, but I've found over the years it just ruins the taste. Even a little glycerin. They've been making shisha for many moons and have good traditional recipies. The new Miso Nakhla line is to my taste any day better than al Fakher. The 5 year old Tropical flavours are great. I like the Zaghloul which has no glycerin, just some molasses and is very dry but has a great taste. also agree with everyone- the 50 gram (really 40gram) packs are not anyways as good as the 250 gram packs.

Maybe try adding a bit of honey? I do this for almost all the Nakhla I buy that comes out of boxes. for 50g, add a good squeeze, mix it up for a minute and let it sit for at least a couple hours to let it mellow. Really bumps up the flavors on some of them. Orange was night and day for me when I did that.

I disagree, I added the ammount that Mattarios suggested (5 tsp. glycerine, 1 tsp. agave per 250) and got famous results. No flavor loss whatsoever, huge fluffy yet still dense clouds, best Nakhla sessions ever. I didn't add to the kilo tin of DA or the Mizo because they came wet, but Tiza remember you're over there in the middle east and get different product than we do, ours is imported and stays on shelves often for long periods of time, drying it out even further than it originally is.
