Herbal Shisha?

Recommended Posts

So recently fixed up the hookah and went from smoking nothing (even cigarettes) for a very long time to smoking shisha every night for 2+ hours for 2.5 some odd weeks and my lungs are definitely feeling it. I think I recall the feeling from going from smoking none to going back to working and smoking a pack a day... anyway after doing some quick reading I am thinking it may not even be the smoke itself (as in toxins) but just sore muscles.

Anyway... I need to give it a few days rest. But I am an avid shisha fan, its killing me to not smoke right now. I know I smoke less than probably a lot of you but whatever, it's all relative! Question is this... this issue has got me thinking more about my health (I got health problems anyway so no need to invite new ones) and so I just was wondering if anyone smokes the herbal stuff and if its any good?

I'm a big believer that anything in moderation isn't too dangerous- but as far as I'm concerned that long a' bowls for 2.5 weeks is not moderation! ohmy.gif

EDIT: Last night was particularly bad too. Bought Fantasia and was not a fan, had a pain getting it lit and it did smoke for a decent flavor for decent amount of time but normally just smoke Al-Waha which has been real good as long as you pick the right flavors (like Guava... mmmmm). We can smoke a bowl of that for a couple hours normally just fine. Edited by Vladimir

I haven't smoked much herbal stuff, but I got a free sample of Saalaam herbal shisha that was in all honesty not half bad. Here's the reviews section to help you pick some flavors, but this stuff seems to be a lot better overall than most any other herbal. Good luck, and hope you get your health back.

I got another question since as I mentioned health is a concern. You read crap on the internet that says smoking shisha is like smoking 200-300 cigarettes... but most the boxes I buy say 0 tar and stuff. I mean I have no illusions that smoke in the lungs is a good thing- but is this 0 tar claim legit though?

There is 0 added tar, although to believe that there is 0 tar period may be a fallacy, as tar is produced when anything is burned. However, the shisha isn't burned in the same sense that a cigarette is burned, there is nothing but ash left after a cigarette is extinguished, while the majority of the tobacco is leftover after a hookah session, albeit very toasty and dry. From there you can make your own assumption, as I do not know of any legitimate studies or tests to prove/disprove this statement, it's just my hypothesis on the matter.

So does it become probably way worse for you as the shisha starts to burn (like get charred)? We can smoke a bowl of Al-Waha for 2 hours even though I think they say a bowl should last 40 minutes?

If you let your shisha begin to physically burn I would say it's certainly no better than if it hadn't, but how much.. and if at all worse I have no evidence to back that with. Although, if it still tastes good, then why not smoke it. If it was a top concern though, stick with 45 min bowls.

Thanks, I think it will be much less of a concern once I get back to moderation and my lungs feel happy =D

EDIT: Oh and buzz, I can only get a buzz from shisha if I have been drinking fairly heavily. Though as I have weened off long cut to redman (much less nicotine in the system) I have noticed I pick up a buzz slightly easier. Edited by Vladimir

NO.

+1

I have tried Soex Orange and Soex Cherry I think it was.

Soex Orange: taste like fuck, harsh as fuck. Threw the bowl out after everyone gagged off half a hit. Even people who smoke like a pack or 2 of ciggs daily wouldn't handle these grass clippings. Wouldn't surprise me if someone just went out to their back yard, found a pile of horse shit, put it in a box, and called it Soex.

Soex Cherry: Taste was ok, no buzz at all, light crappy clouds, waste of time.
