baumann
So I've had a Sahara Smoke Co. stem for about 5 months now and use it daily...and believe me, I will never invest in one again. They smoke great, are easy to clean because you can take them apart, and look okay, but they just don't last very long at all. The coating on the metal started peeling off a few months ago and I'd like to keep the stem for a while because I like the way it disassembles, so I was wondering if there is some sort of protective coating for metal I could buy for it. Anyone know of anything? Anti-corrosion/anti-rust spray of some sort would be ideal.
inino
I really doubt it. and if anything it might be worse from the chemicals that the spray will put in you. honestly maybe invest in another hookah. check out the new KM's that hookahcompany got in. Sonthert
Buy a better hookah would be my thought. I don't think any of us should put up with rusty steel hookahs. Unfortunately, the word for galvanized steel and stainless steel is the same in arabic (and spanish) and they say its stainless steel, but in real terms its coated steel. Thats why I stick with brass, theres no translation problem.
mustang_steve
I'm a brass fan myself....to keep the cosmetic brass hiny, I just use some MAAS metal polish. Don't use it on the smokable areas though...just the visible surfaces...the stuff has aluminum oxides, which are really bad for you.A little of that keeps my brass looking amazing...it may keep real stainless steel looking good as well.Galvanized steel, not so much...it would need painted around the cosmetic portions to keep it looking good...but the mechanically important parts would still rust (since painting them could introduce substances you don't need into your lungs). In the end, just get brass or true stainless steel. SOnthert has a great point that the two words are identical in the native tongue...sometimes it's easy to forget how other languages can influence what we read.
