considering a few different PHD's offered

to be honest the question of hookah / education is not as interesting as intellect / education

i would not consider myself the smartest person in the world im a pretty average guy but im stupidly over educated, doesnt make me smart

I think im farily intelligent, if you put any stock in IQ tests that were administered in 8th grade I have a fairly high one, and I process things on many levels, absorb info like crazy, but I'm a high school drop out through forced circumstances.

Nothing wrong with college AT ALL, in fact I crave knowledge and will someday go, most likely to an art school, but I dont think it's all that relevant to smoking tobacco, although we do tend to be deeper thinkers.

[Incorrect Buzzer]

You're assuming that everybody on the Forum is representative of everybody who smokes hookah. I would guess that the average educational level of people on the internet is higher than those that aren't. Since the Forum is on the internet.

If I could only afford the internet or hookah, but not both, I would get internet.... sorry guys but I rather be connected to the world than smoke...even though I love my hookah.

Something to point out, whether or not is has anything to do with education.. hookah smoking is targeted primarily at College going/aged people. Most bars are within a few miles of campuses.

On a wholly seperate but related note, my wife's college experience is not doing much to encourage me to start.

because of sampling bias in that this is restricted to internet subscribers and 18+ year olds, and not a random selection of hookah smokers, we can't necessarily draw a correlation between aptitude and smoking behavior.

But dammit we can all dream right?

I don't necessarily put a lot of stock in formal education. Intelligence is not measured by what you can endure.

Not 100% correct. Most of the time, when a job requires you to have a college degree, they are not wanting you to have the degree because they think you are "smarter" because you went to college, they simply want to know what kinda of work ethic and dedication you have. Going to college takes A LOT of dedication and hard work. Going to college proves to the employer that you have what it takes to put a lot of hard work and dedication into a project.

Politely snipped.

Not that I disagree with your assessment (I actually agree with what you said), but how is it relevant to my personal observation that intelligence has little to do with your ability to endure a formal education?

Remember: Albert Einstein was a drop-out.

It really isn't relevant. I posted it and then went back and looked at it later and realized it wasn't relevant with how you worded your statement, but by that time the edit button was unavailable. I thought you had said mentioned something about how college doesn't really do any good when trying to prepare for the workforce or something like that. Misread/understood, sorry! And like I said, I really was not trying to degrade anyone with what I said, college isn't meant for everyone and we all have different talents.

Hah, I'm graduating in two weeks my with BS in Business Management.

Adjunct (right spell? lol) Professor just was very candid (as always) with us today: the basic undergrad college degree just isn't worth as Much as it used to be.

The older generation (I'm in my mid twenties, so my parents generation) college = job security.

Now, my professor, whom is high up in HP with clientelle consultation in Operations Management (awesome guy, and fairly rich, just enjoys teaching) said that with jobs 10 years ago that were filled by an undergrad college graduate, they now fill those positions typically with an MBA.

Why? "Because we can."

Market saturation of college grads = lower value in the degree biggrin.gif

Its more about work experience....and the market still sucks balls.

a lot of schools offer a 5 year program. if your school does, go for it. 5 years worth of hours + work experience = MAcy + Hours enough for AICPA certification
