Hookahjohn! Where Are Ya!

Recommended Posts

The hookahjohn method of packing nakhla is AMAZINGLY good!

Iv had some old 50g boxes of nahkla DA which i could never smoke right, it was always harsh and not much flavour. Packed it tangiers style in a small phunnel, used most of the 50g in it, put 3 cocochas on that bad boy and its smoking THICK and with lots of flavour! A lil stong but not harsh at all!

Highly reccomended method! Props to you hookahjohn! biggrin.gif

Cheers for that, I don't usually post stuff like this but I thought hey I might as well thank the guy for his method and get others to try it out. Without trying to sound rude, but if you don't have anything constructive to say you really shouldn't post.

Yes indeed, Mattarios turned me onto packing Nak tighter than usual and I've been doing it since. Not QUITE as tight as Tangiers though I've found that can give harsh results, in between loose and Tangiers is the perfect spot for me.

Thanks Mattar and John!

On a similar note, DON'T pack Mizo this way it gets way harsh in my experiences.

well hold on now, i think you may have taken it wrong, i wasn't trying to sound rude myself, what i meant was;

Good, I'm glad you got Nakhla smoking well, alot of people on this forum think its crap for some reason and i don't understand why, Nak is the shtizzle!.

or good for short.

I did take it wrong and i'm sorry for that. But it came off very sarcastic!

Yeh even I thought it was crap, I used to smoke it a long time ago which was good and since i always thought the quality had gone down (partly due to me never getting my hands on some fresh stock). I was shocked to learn its unwashed, Iv never got buzzed off it and Im not as im smoking it. And all I smoke is AF!

As for the baccy usage... look at it this way: you'll probably get more than 5 hours of smoke out of that phunnel. I get 5-7 hours out of my medium phunnel with Nakhla, so packing it with 50g doesn't really end up wasting any shisha smile.gif

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjQ33LXMh6A that's the video

5 hours! Well when I smoke AF I will only smoke 1 round of coals (2 coco coals) and that's it. If ever I put another round on it after its cooled it will never taste as good. When I'm done with this session, Im pretty sure it will be blackened to a crisp. I could never smoke for more than 2 hours tops and that's pushing it

Well the way i see it is, nakhla ... unlike any other brand ... the juices don't drip, because there isn't much and when there is a lot, it still barely drips. So i just pack reasonably tight, in my egyptian, i use about 15-18 grams and i can smoke it for about 1.5 hours. I use very little shisha, smoke for a damn long time, get awesome smoke and flavor, and no need for a massive phunnel.

Nakhla = win win win

and yes gnr, with mizo, just do the sprinkle method until it is like 1/8 inch over the top of the bowl, then use your palm to pack it down, so it is somewhat dense but still somewhat loosely packed, and mizo is amazing!

i have to give credit where credit is due. eric from tangiers showed me how he packs his tangiers and he also sadi that nakhla is a really good brand so i just copied that to nakhla to see if it works and there you go. thanks eric! in fact i am currently doing that atm with nakhla banana and cherry mixed, it's great.

I noticed how in the video hookahjohn uses a phunnel...would you use the same packing method for an Egyptian or mod bowl?

i haven't done this yet, but have pondered about it...(because packing nakhla densely in a phunnel yields the absolute best results for me, so far)

the thing that came to mind about packing nakhla in a standard egyptian would be to take a shitty round bamboo skewer (not like the flat ones for michwi or kefta) and put it in the center hole of the egyptian and then pack densely around it; when you're done packing, remove the skewere and voila, a densely packed egyptian head that you can still get decent airflow through
