Packing Af.

Recommended Posts

I've had some problems with the new cut of AF. Every time I pack a bowl it doesn't smoke as well as it used to. The smoke's not as dense and the top layer burns away really fast, making it taste like crap no matter what I do. Tried packing it so that the top of the baccy doesn't touch the foil... to no avail.
Any tips for packing the finer cut AF?

I've had some luck with a funnel and a bit of extra space under the foil. 4 rows of holes at the edge and a group of little holes over the funnel hole. I also use CH coals which seem to work on funnels better than anything I've personally tried before.

I feel your frustration because AF Vanilla was my all time favorite and now it's kinda iffy. But better with what I'm doing above.

i use a phunnel and i sprinkle it on, till it's about 1/4" over the rim...then i gently push everything down till it just sits below the rim, foil and smoke. Edited by arcane

Had a similar experience in the last few days. I hadnt had AF in months and when I got a 250g grape it just kept burning the shit out of my throat. Last night I had a breakthrough though... was working on an electronics project and my girlfriend was bored so I suggested she fire up the hookah. She dealt with everything (which is unusual as I always pack and a prepare the thing around here) she packed it very preciously, little bits at a time into a flat(ish) bowl (was a gift, not sure what you'd call it) and poked only ~25 very very small holes. I tried it after a little bit and it finally was hitting like the AF I knew before. I think what I was doing wrong was allowing the holes to be too big which caused the molasses to melt instantly (and kind of bubble up the sides) giving a nasty taste. Hopefully that helps...

sounds like your heat imo..

AF is one of the easiest shishas to get right it seems like. Unless you have to much heat.
