delSol_si
I have had one of the crappiest days I have had in a long time. Went to the local shop and picked up some new shisha (some I have never tried before). I went to work and smoked a bowl at work, it was kinda unpleasant because I couldn't really relax, but it taste amazing. I was sooo looking forward to getting back to the dorm to enjoy a bowl. I went and got some beer, went back to the dorms, loaded my bowl up, started to pull my stem out of the vase, and snap! The damn base snapped in half as I was pulling the stem out.To say the least, I was pissed...1 that the base broke, and 2 I don't get so smoke tonight after getting the bowl loaded. I have looked online at HS, HC, and texashookah and the only vase I could find is a very plain one at HC. Texashookah had some awesome vases, but they don't give any of the measurements. As you can see from the pic, it looks like the opening is about 2 inches. Anyone have a base they would be willing/like to sell me? Or anyone know of a good place to get a new base?? Thanks for your help!
Zinite
yeah that's a 2 inch vase. i'm posting from my phone so i'm not gping to double check this but i think gothookahs.com has replacement khalil mamoon vases that will fitedit: i checked. they have them and it should work
Victim026
If your willing to drop the cash the Bohemian vases at HC are tough to beat.http://hookahcompany.com/large_bohemian_la...s_3731_prd1.htm
MechAnt
That base looks like what they pair with some KM. Hookahcompany has a small stock of KM bases right now but you can get any Large sized glass and it'll fit. They are fairly standardized.Check out a MZ base. They are a little plain but they are SOLID.http://www.hookahcompany.com/large_stained...s_2366_prd1.htm

How durable are they? Have you had much experience with them? I wish they made like polycarbonate bases(I think that is what it is called, the stuff they make those cups/glasses out of that DON'T break).QUOTE (MechAnt @ Apr 14 2009, 11:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>That base looks like what they pair with some KM. I appreciate the advice, I will be considering those as well, I didn't really know if all the large sized were standard or not (ie. how close to 2" I needed to get). Thanks for clarifying that for me. I really would like to get a base this time that won't break. I wouldn't be so pissed if I had dropped it, but all I did was pull the stem out and it broke! I was even doing the whole "wiggle back and forth slowly" thing so it didn't just pop out and such.BTW, I REALLY appreciate the fast responses to this. It really shows how awesome this forum and the members are. It is SOO cool how fast people are willing to help out. I haven't decided yet whether to throw down the extra cash for a really nice looking base, or just get a cheap plain jane base incase it breaks again. I also noticed SmokinMoose had some for sale awhile back, doubt he has any left, but I think I may check anyway, build some good feedback. Thanks again! And any more advice anyone has is appreciated!! Edited April 15, 2009 by delSol_si
Victim026
The bohemian vases are very nice, some of the nicest on the market and getting harder to find as well. I've got Bohemian vases on both my mash'al's and i've never had any sort of problems with them at all. The glass is incredibly thick compared to anything else on the market and the designs haven't started to rub off on either, one is 2 years old, the other 3. Eric's been talking about these vases and he mentioned that production numbers are down on these, also they are moving the production they are doing to Romania rather then in the czech republic. These could very well be the last of the czech vases and the romanian ones aren't anywhere close to the quality of the czech ones. I'd scoop one up while they are still around.\
antouwan
don't forget to order a new grommet as well, chances are the new base you get will not fit perfectly with your grommet setup. i keep a large grade file on hand for customizing my grommets...it's the best
TexasHookah
Sorry about your base. Also sorry about the no dimensions. We will try to get the dimensions of the bases online within the next couple of days. As for the broken vase, what kind of hookah was it? Do you have a picture of the original hookah if so we can look in our inventory to see if we have something that matches it. Let us know. Email at contact@texashookah.com. Sonthert
Whoa! Easy, now. Thats a 32* jar, not a standard 30* or 26*. They're kinda rare. I've never actually seen a 32* gasket, We just use fat 30* gaskets and tape to seal them up. Since I know Hookah Company's stock so well, I can say that on the replacement jars, the only one thats a 32* is the Jumbo Bohemian:Jumbo BohemianThis hookah has a 32* jar on it:32* Jar HookahGeorge also has a red/gold version of it, too. Unfortunately, the paint rubs off of both of these. The blue one leaves a blue jar, the red one leaves a clear jar (the red is paint, too). You might have to switch to a 30* jar and gasket, depending on how big the bell/hub of the shank is.

I was just about ready to cross that vase off because of funds, but now that you mention that, kinda makes me want to reconsider. Really don't want to have to mess with another broken vase. my KM ice was my only hookah and I miss smoking!! I still haven't unloaded my bowl that I had loaded up before it broke...lolQUOTE (antouwan @ Apr 15 2009, 01:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>don't forget to order a new grommet as well, chances are the new base you get will not fit perfectly with your grommet setup. i keep a large grade file on hand for customizing my grommets...it's the bestThanks for the advice! My heart stopped when I heard and saw the breakage. All I could think of was "WTF?! did that really just happen?? WTF??" Thanks for putting the measurements up, I really appreciate it. I'm kinda heart broken again though, I REALLY like the Diamond Cut Glass Base vase but it is too small . I like the pyramid as well, I might be able to get it to fit, it's only .25" smaller and the grommet walls are .25" on either side, meaning I have roughly >.5" to play with. My hookah is a 32" KM ice (most people call it a 34", but it was listed as 32") Stem is 8"+1.5" where the grommet fits. The place the grommet sits is about 1.5" diameter. Thanks again for the help, I am not at all worried about matching the old vase, I would prefer a different new style anyway.QUOTE (Sonthert @ Apr 15 2009, 11:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Whoa! Easy, now. Answers my question of what size base and grommet I have and what to look for. When I opened the box and put the hookah together, I thought the vase was a bit on the large size, but didn't realize it was "rare." Thanks for letting me know what HC has. Like I was talking about with victim, not sure I want to throw down $65 for a vase yet...though it is tempting. I REALLY like the vase on the al gia hookah, but I really can't afford another hookah now that I have a vase to buy as well. Paint rubbing off doesn't bother me much, the paint on the vase that broke was rubbing off.Soo many options! Thanks again for all your guy's help, any more suggestions are welcomed! I did also find a Jumbo KM vase at gH? but I have heard KM vases aren't the best quality. They do have some sexy Syrians though. I have a feeling I am going to end up downsizing to a 30" base. I would like to stick with 32", but there is such a better selection and price on the 30". Thanks again guys! I have a lot of thinking to do! delSol_si
So I decided I couldn't wait until getting a new base in to smoke, so I went to Lowe's and got some PVC stuff and made a vase to make do until I can get one in. Worked pretty well.

frost91
i have a 32" trimetal. before my stem would tip over a little because of a loose vase, but after it broke, i bought a new one at thehookah.com, the shiny one with the glitter design and it works perfectly too. Its cheap as well, i think 9.
evilded777
+10!That's sheer brilliance, and I actually like how it looks... kinda Cyber Punk. Does anyone do Cyber Punk anymore, or am I dating myself with that reference?
delSol_si
Haha, thanks guys. Ya I know it looks ghetto as hell, but it works for now. I am thinking about using it as my travel vase so I don't have to worry about breaking the vase when I go somewhere to smoke. I would paint it but I live in a dorm room and they would probably frown on that...maybe this summer. Looked on thehookah.com and the cheapest they had is $20. I am probably either going to buy one from a guy here on the forums that said he would ship one for $15 (cheap and nice of the guy, but I don't really care a whole lot for the design) or buy one from hookahcompany.com since I am placing a coal/shisha order w/ them anyway. Still need to call about that vase, Eric, just been soo freaking busy. Thanks again for the help!

I couldnt get a 30 gasket to even come close to fitting on my jumbo, the hole is freaking tiny, damn handmade goods. I love that they are handmade but sometimes you just get one that is waaay different than the rest.and that is a damn cool idea man, good work! JDHarding
Man I'm seeing these base breakings way too often. Now I'm worried about my caravan trading company base I got with my KM stem. It looks tough, but if even that thick glass base can break, I'm in trouble.

It's interesting that the no names are actually heavier than the KM, guess KM is taking advantage of their good reputation? Kinda sad that companies will ruin their name like that. What size are #6, #7, and #8? I really did want to get the vase you referenced me to, but likespaceships said he would ship a KM vase to me for $15 (I sent $17 to cover MF fees since this is my first trade and I want it to be good). Couldn't pass that deal up. Plus, with this shit economy, my dad got laid off and my job is going to shit, so I need to save money.
