qazxcv
I've been using regular egyptian bowls and other regular bowls (got 10+ at home.. larges ones, deep ones, not deep ones, different material, etc.) since forever.I've been reading how amazing phunnel bowls are. Can you use a phunnel to smoke ''regular brands'' like Nakhla or AF, and not only tangiers? Because tangiers is inexistant here in MTL.Would it make a difference to smoke lets say DA in a phunnel? Also, I read that there's a lot of different phunnel types... could I get a consensus on what the best is to avoid cheap ones and imitations? Links would be appreciated. Thanks again!
Enjoivolcom
I just had a post where we all kinda talked about this and the conclusion was to buy a tangiers phunnel bowl and not the fake chinese phunnel bowl. They said you can tell the difference between them when you look at the bottom, tangiers is alot thicker and are usually white on the bottom i believe. All credit goes to whoever answered my question on the phunnel bowl a couple days ago!

I pretty much smoke exclusively out of my phunnels.
inino
The best way to avoid a knock off is to buy this. http://www.hookahcompany.com/tangiers_smal...l_2070_prd1.htmYou can smoke any brand of tobacco out of the phunnel.

a cliche affair
Hookah Company and Hookah John both have the legit tangiers phunnels. As far as how well they work with all shisha, i've smoked tangiers lucid, al fakher, nakhla, fusion, starbuzz and layalina out of mine with great results. jeremyk
small tangiers phunnel is by far your best bet but if you are tight on money my roomate has a chinese small phunnel and it works fine not nearly as good as the tangiers phunnel but ok
evilded777
Go for the genuine. It makes a difference. You can smoke a Chinese, it takes some work to learn it... a lot more heat management than a genuine. Only do this if you can't spend the money on a genuine or a MNH glass. But, I think, the learning curve and extra heat management don't make up for the minuscule price difference.Minnesota Hookah's glass phunnels are amazing. I just got a mini, and it has leapt to the top of the pack for solo smoking.
Arcane
i smoke everything out of my phunnel. you just have to pack the brands differently. usually more denser than an egyptian.
chinamon
gazxcv, since you are in montreal i would recommend that you purchase a tangiers phunnel (not the chinese phunnel) from hookahjohn.comhookahcompany does not ship to canada. i live in the toronto area and hookahjohn is my main go-to vendor. mustang_steve
You'll learn a few things with a phunnel.1) coal placement is more important....smaller coals and more coals work better.2) foil hole patterns will be VERY different. Actually my egyptian/mod bowl patterns are now adapted phunnel patterns.3) you'll get spoiled on the superior draw that a properly setup phunnel gives you....inhale slowly.4) one phunnel is not enough
