mohinder
I'm intending to make the move to naturals, quicklites seem to give me brainache, so I want to at least try naturals, so I reckon I'll take advantage of the super cheap Tom Cococha coals from Germany. I don't want to light them in the kitchen, I'd rather do it outside or upstairs so as not to wind up my parents, and I know about the one coil burners you US guys get from Walgreens, but I'm having trouble finding one in the UK - I know they exist, I know they're available, I just don't know what to search for!Can any UK guys point me at one?Cheers

srawas89
I am 98% sure hot plates will not work. It is because there is not circulation underneath which will make the coals much much harder to light. At least this is what I came to understand. AzZ
You can't get coil burners in the UK. I use a blowtorch which gets the job done well. Go to B&Q and pick up one for £10.98.Link
mohinder
Looks like gas it is then, I'll pick up one or the other when I get round to grabbing some of those cocochas.Cheers guys, much appreciated
the_cool
I have lit cocochas on a flat hot plate type stove at uni halls so it is possible. It doesn't have to be a coil. I have searched everywhere for a coil burner but I really don't think they exist here. A blowtorch in my opinion takes far too long, I don't have the patience to stand there holding the coals whereas on a stove you can just leave them there while you set up the hookah.I read that making a foil windcover type doodah that you put over the coals on the hot plate will help get them red quicker. This is the route I am going to take, just looking for a decent quality hot plate now!
