I've got a mini Jet that I turn pens on, but man, I totally dig some of those hoses. I really like that ebony and burl.

Those Jet lathes are badass. Is yours variable speed? (as in a knob control)

The thing I don't like on the ebony is that the lighter colored grain is real splintery. They need shellac or epoxy or something. I think the Texas Ebony is not supposed to be as bad.

Yeah, it sure is. Bought it off of my grandfather after he decided that he didn't need to get into turning, that boatmaking was enough of a woodworking hobby for any man.

That variable speed sure shaves a lot of time off. I want one but with prototyping it's not as important. Larry sure likes his.
I just got some tools off a guy that just finished building a 26' sailboat from scratch. It was damn pretty but took several years. That is hardcore woodworking for sure!

Scalli, is there any reason why you chose the cobra style neck on some of those hoses? Not that there's anything wrong with the cobra style, just wondering...

Oh, and could you put the olivewood next to the ebony? I think that might be interesting...

The ones with the bend are just for a different look and longer handle without looking as insane as it would straight.
I will mock up a pic after while.

hey scalli could you do one like i asked in the pm? with the ebony and maybe some ash for some contrast

I just checked and all I found was if Larry could make some that look like a chess piece. Which I forgot to ask sad.gif But I will eail him while I'm thinking about it. I just glued up the ebony so I have to make some more, or let Larry. That shit gave me a fit. The grain varies so much between the lighter and darker areas. sad.gif From dense to pretty light, I a getting the Texas Ebony and giving it a try.
After all Texas gave us Shiner Bock and what kinda beer has Madagascar sent over? wink.gif
