looks typical of the downtown middle east. if it was syria there would be much more syrian pipes, if it was jordan or lebanon it would be a mixture of Km's and syrians. If you go the "smoke" districts you can easily see 30+ shops selling hookahs next door to each other, along with shisha in 5 gallon buckets (you weigh your own). awesome pics though, really brings me back.

i would have a hayday and smoke myself to death there.. or get in trouble with customs trying to ship 10 or 15 5 gallon buckets of shisha back labeled as strawberry preserves or something lol

Im hoping to get myself a few cheap KM's soon. My parents live in the middle east and are porbably moving back to the UK this summer. We are gettin a container to bring back furniture etc so ill be packing a few pipes into it for myself! I got a KM box of 84 coals, hose, tongs and a kilo of AF for 40 quid when I lived there but that hookah got lost when we moved so it was a shame.

I don't think an exact address would be of much use there, as these stores are all in the 'khan al khalili' market - lots of little side streets and shops. But it's the main souk/market in Cairo, everyone knows where it is. Just ask to be dropped off there and walk around. There are lots of places to eat, drink tea, smoke.

If you're there don't miss the cafe: El Fishawy, it's a nice cafe where you can smoke and they are famous for having been opened continuously for more than 200 years without ever closing - not even for a single day.

As for getting double the price: it's all about knowing how to bargain and knowing how much you're willing to spend.

Don't be obvious about which ones you're dying to buy, just try to keep cool. Keep haggling until you see he won't budge. Even when they give it to you for "cheap" they're still making money off of it - they wouldn't sell it to you otherwise.

A nice trick is after negotiating for a while, if you're not getting your way: just leave, often they'll come after you and give you a better price and if not, there are always 40 or 50 stores next to that one selling the same thing.
