Problem With New Coals...

Recommended Posts

I was at my local smokeshop a few days back and picked up some Al Ajdad finger coals, and have been having some problems with them. In the reviews on this site, people say they ash a lot but other than that don't seem to have any problems with them.

It seems like, for me, I light them, and they are really awesome for about 5 minutes, then its almost like they just lose all their heat and I start getting barely any smoke. I can ash them and move them, but the same thing happens, they work great for 5 minutes then just sort of lose all the heat.

I light them on a coil burner, and keep them on the burner until they are all grey before putting them on the hookah...anyone know what I'm doing wrong? wallbash.gif

coals tend to get lower in quality the longer they are around. I don't think you are doing anything wrong, you just have crappy coals. Write a review to save others. smile.gif

I guess its time to invest in some coconaras tongue.gif Edited by gorillA

Right, while they are still relativly new on the market. My exoticas are just getting crappier with every bnox. Softer, more binders, less charcoal, black ash. They are still the best, but thats not going to last much longer i fear.

I used a whole bag of Al-Ajdad coals and didnt have that problem....dunno mayb you got a bad batch? I doubt you are not lighting them fully but a rule of thumb i use with naturals is they are done when there is a flame coming from the coals. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, hope you didnt pay a whole lot for it .
