FamiliarJoe
Has anyone ever given these natural wood coals a chance? I got a huge bag of them for 5 bucks and they aren't bad at all..im just trying to figure out how often I need to ash them without them clogging all my holes :|They are made from olive wood apparently and take a while to light (ive never used coco's but im assuming they take about the same amount of time.Still haven't figured out the perfect amount of coal to use on my small phunnel. One thing I really like about these coals is the fact that I can break them with my hands very easily, I don't have to use a knife on a cutting board on nothin They also have a hole that goes straight through the middle of each brick, which does a great job of keeping air circulating through the whole coal, never really losing to much heat. mushrat
Actually, those WERE Nour brand, then they went to Abu, and now they are Nour again. You won't see that name once stock runs out. Apparently there has been some bad blood between the makers of Nour and they keep changing the name back and forth.Watch for little quartzite pebbles in the ash. I am one of their only regulars for shisha and coals :X
mushrat
Wouldnt be a few years i dont think. More like 6-8 months perhaps? They are decent coals actually. A bit heavy on the ash for use in the bar but decent coals overall. except for the rocks. and I'm NOT kidding about that....

I have a huge pile of ash in 1 of my ash trays just from 1 night of using these coals, it's all yellow and hard (guessing thats the rocks you are talking about).Oh how I wish I could just buy coco's from a store around here :| Shops don't like it when I recommend they sell a certain coal, at all :X (Not saying I blame them)
the_cool
I hate these coals with a passion!! It's all I can find in the UK that is a natural coal and I had too many problems with it. They gave me headaches and since is cylindrical, there's not much surface area actually touching the coals making it hard to get a good smoke (for me anyway). If you have better success then more power to you but I find them very cumbersome.

Sry for possible threadjack, just thought I'd alert ya to those.I used to use abu abdo and other natural coals a lot... still love them, but these afire coals are around the same price if not cheaper and they're easier on heat management. Balthazar
They're decent. Not the best coals on the market, but they work. My biggest issue is the amount of ash. On the plus side, they're not as hot as coconara and the likes. Makes it a good coal for Tangiers, at least in my experience.

(That's when cut in quarters, around the size of coconaras)The ash is a lot like coconaras, only it doesn't cling as much, and is slightly more grey-colored. ilikemyusername
nour, aboalbed, cubes with holes, cylinders...i have a bag purchased under the nour name same picture ,white plastic bag. bag now gone or i'd take a pic, but they're natural lump style, they look like the romman lemonwood, all broken sticks and cut logs, exept they're definitley not lemonwood, i hate that stuff, makes my lungs burn, maybe that was just the rommann...anyway...wtf is with these coals.... antouwan
lulz at the name "father of the slave"i had some with the exact same bag but with the nour name - meh, WAY too much ash, and yeah, there are pebbles in them...even though i never knew what the hell those were when i had them. bet of the west natural lump is way better than those. also, mine didn't have a hollow center, they were solid all the way through...wierd
