Whats The Obsession With Smaller Phunnel Bowls?

Recommended Posts

Hi Dudes,
What makes a smaller phunnel bowl better for you? I keep getting request that I choose the "smallest phunnel bowl I can find" when I get orders. I don' mind doing this as best I can but why?
Is it to save shisha? Does it make a difference in your smoke?
I personally have a smaller of the smalls and a larger of the mediums. Oh and thanks to Eric, a really small/short mini (not supposed to know if I should have said that but yes I got hooked up)
Obviously I have access to all of the shisha I want so saving or making it last doesn't always enter my mind. Basically, I want the best smoke experience. I don't even smoke that long, about 20-40 minutes each night if I'm alone. In a social setting I will smoke longer, basically as long as I can, it can be 2-3 hours.
I have found that I enjoy my smoke more with the medium. Maybe there is more shisha to go around and get "smoked", idk?
But with the small ones they are just ok but I feel like I'm missing out on something when using the small phunnel. I really like it if I want to do a quicky, for example, last night I tried lucid schnozzberry for the first time (good job Eric, and I'll tell you why later) This morning I will try and sneak in a quick 10 minute smoke, use the mini and some QL's. (last night I had it, and I may even recycle the product still in the bowl, and not even clean the hookah or change the water, it's ok, I haven't showered yet and admit you guys have done it too) Using the medium will mean throwing away too much tobacco.
Other than that and when I have the time to enjoy my smoke I really think the medium smokes much better. So, why do you guys prefer smaller phunnels?
John

1) It does save shisha, especially when one is smoking alone
2) I like to change the flavor out every few hours (My smoking time is anywhere from 1hr to 5hrs generally, longest time before is 8 hrs)
3) IT SAVES COALS, which while are usually less expensive than shisha they normally run out before the shisha does.
4) It's usually easier to pack with tangiers becuase there is less space for you to be concerned about filling up.

A - I am one broke-ass M*%^erF#$@*er

B - I don't smoke for more than 2-3 hours tops as usually it's solo, and my medium lasts an absurdly long time

C - No that's pretty much it, most of the time I'm too broke and have to worry somewhat about conserving shisha and coals(even though my stash is big right now) and I don't smoke for a long enough period to warrant frequently using my medium when my mini smokes just as well.

I do have a theory that it's like technology, it keeps getting smaller and we're impressed with small things that work well, so we want the newest smaller version.

I don't notice a difference in quality between my medium and my mini. I use the mini almost exclusively now though. It takes 2 coals per round rather than 3... makes a pretty big difference in the long run.

Even regardless of money i feel bad wasting anything. I generally smoke an hour along or 2 hours with friends, so it just seems like such a waste to throw out half the bowl when there is a smaller option. I even think my small is two large for me unless i want a long session. Coals plus shisha def do add up and i was using quite a bit more when i had the small (about twice as much tobacco per bowl)

because im tired of wanting to switch the shisha after 2 sessions, without wasting shisha.

if you have a medium and a small your set for anywhere from 2-10 people for a few hours....

i havent ordered my small, but when i have more money im definatly going to, and expect me to ask for the smallest you can find wink.gif Edited by K1024

I opted small to save shisha as well. I don't smoke as often as many guys here, maybe about 5 times a week, occasionally we will go two bowls so up to like 6 times a week. So wasting shisha is a big deal in my book. Smoking it for the first time tonight =D

different purpose of smoking i suppose. i smoke for long periods of time.

ive found that the medium smokes significantly better than any small i have. heat management gets far easier as the bowl gets bigger. personally i like the large bowls but i smoke max for 4 hours, not 9 so thats kind of out of the question.

ive been using medium bowls almost exclusively now. just dont like the small ones anymore

that's what i was thinking, glad someone else sees it the same way.
don't get me wrong, i do understand making shisha go a long way in volume and with tangiers it already does as far as flavor lasting. money is def a big factor however what scoop mentioed is what i was trying to get at.
anyone else?

when i smoke i usually have about 2 hours and i dont like wasting anything also. so saving on the shisha and coals is a plus. but since im new to hookah and all and still trying out stuff i like to go for about an hour then switch it up. and plus the small lasts me +2 hrs on a good bowl and that is far more than i need, i end up getting "bored" shall i say, with the flavor...

I pretty much smoke in the same patterns as you john. short sessions solo, and long sessions with friends. I typically use the mini phunnel or the small no matter how long i plan to smoke for. It saves shisha, and manages heat better is why I like it. and also if packed properly I can get my mini going for 4+ hours with full flavor tangiers. I also do realize that eric cant go smaller with the phunnels to get them smoking as good as they do now, but if it were possible I would want it smaller.

1. Save shisha. I'm broke and that shit can get expensive quick.
2. Uses fewer coals. See above reasoning.
3. I've had a small phunnel of Lucid peach last ~2.5 hours with 8 to 10 people smoking on it.
4. I smoke by myself fairly often and have no urge to smoke for several hours like that.
5. Very seldom do I have time for a really long session.
6. In my opinion phunnel bowl are pretty much superior to any other type but they are huge.

I personally like my medium phunnel the best, and compaired to my friend's medium, it's slightly bigger. I like to smoke for long periods of time, about 5 hours average, so it's nice just having to pack only 1 bowl and having it last so long.

it's nice to save tobacco. my small lasts three rounds of coals easy (about 3 hours) and by then i or people i'm with are up for a flavor change. not to mention, i'll smoke a bit one day, save the setup and everything and smoke a little bit the next day, but doing that out of the same setup for over 3 days just seems....messed up

i totally agree with you and scoop.
i got the small phunnel from you recently and a pretty big medium from mnh when eric first came out with the phunnel.
i definitely use my medium a lot more even if im smoking for 30 minutes and throw out the rest of the tobacco. i seem to get a better session with the medium.
