Johnny_D
I am going to purchase a new pc with windows vista, of which I have no experience of.I am reasonably pc literate, but am concerned at weather I am making a good purchase or not.It is down to 2 machines both with good harddrives and 3Gb memeory each. But one has a AMD Phenom X3 8400 triple core @ 2,1Ghz (compaq)and the other is an Intel E2220 dual core @ 2.4Ghz. (Packard bell)Machine will be used for homework, internets and occasional flight sim.So which is better! Thanks chapsJD
Stuie
Compaq is better, based on the processor. ... I keep forgetting Packard Bell still exists outside the USA...
Bye bye now have fun
the e2200 is trash you can probably get a friend to build a better one for cheaper
*HOT&SMOKING*
triple cores are useless for what you want to use it for..single core would even be fine, depending on which flight sim. you are using of course...-H&S
Bye bye now have fun
even so the amd will probably use less power and plus this is vista
Johnny_D
So to put it in simple terms :- The AMD is the better bet?
evilded777
Yes, the AMD would most likely be a better choice. How much RAM?And God, can't you wait til Windows 7 comes out, or find one with XP instead?Vista is an abomination and should be wiped from the face of the Earth (and yes, I have used it, so I'm not just talking out of my bum). shisha fan
QUOTE (Johnny_D @ Apr 27 2009, 05:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>So to put it in simple terms :- The AMD is the better bet?the amd has the superior processor, but there aren`t really any non-professional applications that utilise the 3 cores that it has.the intel e2200 processor is also more than capable of what you plan on using it for.so it basically comes down to the rest of the specifications, for example: which one has a larger harddrive or which one has the superior graphics card (to get a good framerate in flight simulator). Johnny_D
Hard drives, dvd re-writer, 3 giggly bytes of memory on both machines. There is about a $60 difference, but this as much pc as I can afford. I was dubious over the AMD as everything is based around Intel. Or am I worrying without cause? Thanks for all the opinions!JD
