I would think, in polite company, "No, thank you." is sufficient. A polite host would inquire if they are curious, and then you can expatiate your viewpoint. In polite setting, we don't offer controversial opinions without being asked and then only in the most inoffensive way. If you have specific dietary requirements or restrictions, it is polite to ask your host, in private, before dinner. It is polite to offer each dish to people and ask if they would care for some, in this way people can pick and choose from whats being served without burdening the host or being being burdened by explaining why they don't care to partake of the dish in question.

"I'm a Vegan." is just as irrelevant as "I don't eat slaughtered carcasses." or "I don't eat meat from infidels.". You might make other people uncomfortable who are preparing to eat, perhaps they might visualize some Vegan propaganda involving animal slaughter or cruelty. You might make your host uncomfortable that you feel unwelcome. This is tremendously unfair to the people around you to burden their dinner with your moral issues. They are there to eat, enjoy themselves, have fun, not to think about a Vegan's moral objections to what they are eating.

This is why there are manners, not to make other people feel lower, but to have a common series of rules that people, regardless of their upbringing or nationality, can sit together peaceably by not offending others inadvertently or making people feel uncomfortable.

Vegans assume that their food is better, more universal and more palatable. This is of course, untrue, I personally find Vegan fare to be generally offensive and disgusting...and I love all kinds of vegetables , grains and fruits, too. There isn't a vegetable, fruit or grain I won't eat, but "Vegan Food" is nasty. Vegans assume that their food is edible to all people, and that isn't the case, at least the Vegans I'm friends with and have known in the past. This of course, is the avenue for a disagreement. As anybody who has ever had a dinner party can tell you, the worst thing that can happen to ruin a dinner party is to have two or more guests have an argument. Discussion of potentially controversial topics is reserved for after dinner, so as not to upset people, which can affect their appetites or enjoyment of the meal.

Yes, I make tobacco, give dating advice AND preach manners. This is not some dream...its just me.

personally i'm not a vegetarian but i dont eat anything i wouldn't kill myself.

chickens are borderline, it depends on how hungry i am.

Wow, I never saw that coming. I can't believe they actually gave you 140 for a glass vase that actually cost like 30-40. Congrats on being able to get a new hookah.

will do....yea i already know im goin to get another blue golden painted base but idk what to get for a hookah i was thinking a 26-28' rotator for like all the bon fires and partys i go to but idk if i want like a 2 hose or 3. I know i want a hookah for like alot of people to chill and smoke and a rotator seems like the one to go with and the 3 i have smoked out of were great

If it was something I wasn't emotionally attached to, I would. But hookah is in a league of its own, its one of those "touch mine and die" situations; Emotional value and sentimental value has a lot to be said.

yea thats how it is man.....when my friend found out my hookah broke because of the note on my door....him and 4 of my friends were deciding who would tell me my hookah was broke...they knew if i came back and didnt see that note i would of flipped on everyone and everything till i found out the truth.....i was freaking out in class when i found out.....that was my first real hookah and i cant believe they destroyed it

Fair warning: I have a hookah company rotator it was my first pipe. It'll work very well for a while but after heavy use the welds may come undone. My purge valve AND hose port both came completely off the heart. I still need to JB weld them to make it usable. Also, Threaded downstems like rotators have can become stripped if the quality is shit, which most are. On the other hand something about actually using a rotator is so nice, people who haven't don't understand how nice it is to feel that swivel as the hose follows you.

On a different note, there's no point to a rotating multihose hookah...a rotator's function is to make the hose passable around a circle, multiple hoses effectually do the same thing rendering the rotating obsolete.

I'd go for a multihose KM or MZ man. Pony up a little bit extra and get one then just get a normal egyptian vase as a replacement for the broken one if it totals at a lil more than 140.

In fact I just looked at your avatar pic and it might be the same hookah I have. Too small to be sure, but it looks like it.

on a side not, gratz on gettin the cash you deserve. They went into your room when you specifically requested they did not, then they broke your belongings. Some think its wrong how the maid could get into trouble, but the fact is she broke it and you deserve reimbursement, plus pay for hardship and suffering... yeh know?

He never said he told them not to go into his room. He left a note saying not to touch the hookah.......(Check page one of this thread). And no one but the maid knows why it fell. I've had things fall over from vibration of the vacuum I use, so it could be she never actually touched the hookah itself. Or maybe she intentionally dropped it out of some spite. Who knows? Since only the maid was there only the maid knows. What's more, no one has argued he deserved replacement. Several people (including myself) waded in on the moral issue up "upgrading" rather than replacing for equal value of what was destroyed. In the end we all have to live within the morality of what we choose for ourselves. I've simply learned through enough years on this earth that when you don't play fair, some way, some how it will come back to haunt you. It's that karmic thing. Since many of us care about other forum members, it's natural to say something if we feel they may be making a mistake. That's all we can do and leave them to make the final decision and take the karmic consequences for themselves and respect them for the choice they make. And that's enough moralizing - from me anyway.

First off, I'm sorry i didn't know my grammar was such an issue here on the forums.... if i want to have my grammar critiqued ill take more English classes.....I'm a History major....NOT a English major....lol (or should i type laugh out loud?)


anyways giant ninja robot the hookah in my pic was at a hookah bar in chicago and i really really like it but its impossible to find...its a syrian rotator with an ice chamber... and it smoked amazing, every hit was awesome and everything about it was really nice. However Im thinking about just getting a new vase and getting a nice MZ or a KM because most of my friends are goin away to school this summer or studying abroad (like myself) so idk if a party type hookah will be necessary now. So idk if i want to get like the Comet Rotator off Hookah shisha or just get like a nice small MZ which sounds really good.

oh and BohoWildChild i fully agree with you in alot of ways. Your karma ideas are right along with my situation...i was fined twice for things i never did and since they practiced bad karma now its coming back to bite them in the ass. Also, im not trying to say the cleaning people broke my hookah on purpose because i have never had a problem with them all year. They have also never moved my hookah before and they use to just clean around it so idk how it broke but it did and now i can replace it.
