outbreakpb
Okay so i have been going at it for a while (in my eyes) now, probably have been through 15+ bowls of assorted shisha. and i have only managed to get good flavor for decent amount of time out of 3 bowls, AF mint, AF Strawberry and SB Blue mist. among the others i have tried are AF cafe latte( smelled amazing, really strong smell) ABSOLUTELY no taste. AF Esk Apple, sent wasnt all that strong but i would have thought some taste would have came out of it. SB blueberry, strong smell again, no flav. AF mango okay smelling, but no taste.... and numerous others all with the same outcome...the rig:Mya QTsmall tang phunnelice/cool water base ( i have tried both and both didnt work)razan hose2x CH QL's (opposite sides)3x circles of pretty small holes. 3/4x holes in the middlei have tried finger packing to the rim and pushing down, i have tried forking it above the rim and pushing it down i have tried pretty much everything that i have read about except packing it really tight. which i may try tomorrow... advice?? questions?? comments?? statements of stupidity?? thanks-Andrewps im going to start praying to the shisha gods
mattarios2
My first guess would be the hose? What kind? Is it ghosted?
outbreakpb
well it is a razan like i said up there. and its not ghosted i run a stream of HOT water though it for 20+ min after each smoke. i got the good flavor out of mint with this, i think it was my first smoke with that hose, but there is no mint taste/smell when sucked through... mattarios2
don't use hot water, it will cause the hose to eventually fall apart.if you are sure the hookah, bowl, and hose are really clean ...I'd guess no on under packing because you said you pack it to the rim, 2 CH isn't too much heat on a small phunnel, any chance you can get your hands on a diff hookah and hose to test to see if it is one of those two causing the problem? likespaceships
break your coal up and put it on all sides of your phunnel.less heat distributed equally over the bowl should help.
mattarios2
i was thinking that likespaceships, but the CH coals give off low heat, I didn't think that would be an issue.Def a possibility though.EDIT: The QL's do give off a bit more heat than the NATS though, so ... try that out OG

Victim026
Use room temp water as well, cold/ice water will dumb down the flavor but bump up the clouds. Warmer water will allow the flavor to come through. I'd also give your pipe a good cleaning.

evilded777
Try cutting the coals in half, or as close as you can get. Start with 3 of the halves around the bowl (3 halves of coconut coals seems a pretty good place to start on a small phunnel); you may need to add more, you may need to take one off. I recommend a wind cover. As someone said above: distribute the heat. And definitely try the warm water. I'm still not sure on that part, but I've been doing it lately. outbreakpb
okay so this weekend was my prom weekend and we had a killer time going to cabins with all my friendsi brought the hookah that i cleaned prior to leaving.i soaked everyting in straight lemon juice and it all smelled much better, except my hose which still smells like plastic... it has smelled like that since day one... i always run hot water through it for 15 min after smoking, and it has not changed. while inhaling with the hose not on the hookah it tastes horrible... so i brought my mya hose that came with the QT and i got flavor... so damn this razan. what do i have to do to get the plastic taste out of it?!?!? Sonthert
I think people are out of solutions. Try beer, rinse the hose with beer then with water. See what that does.
