Bookworm
I've finally decided to get a phunnel, and a random question is why are they so damn tall? I'm worried that I'll need to rig up something fancy with my windscreen since I smoke outside. Is there any way to chop down the stem to make it shorter? Sherwood
better option is just to pick one of these up with your phunnel bowl.

Sherwood
Mine works a treat, and looks effing gangster. My favorite $13 purchase thusfar, barring the phunnel itself.

The bottom of the windcover doesn't touch the tray. Also the inside of the windcover rest on the edges of the phunnel bowl so it only leaves like an inch or two for coals on top of my bowl? It's kind of hard to explain, if you need clarification I can take a pic when I get home from work!

I believe the distance on an MZ is almost identical to a KM.
inino
Im almost positive that eric has a reason for making them that way. I wouldnt question it, just believe that its supposed to be like that.

Tom1
Because a Taj wouldn't fit on a KM since the distance from the top of the stem to the tray is higher than average.
sportsfan6216
I believe i remember reading though if you have a like QT tray you can trow it on the KM and it won't go clear down to the tray spot, so you would have like a double tray.... the top for the wind cover to sit on and the bottom for your coals..... i'll have to remember to try this so don't quote me i just think i saw it somewhere. Capt. Morgan
When I smoke my MZ with a phunnel I put a bambino tray on the bowl grommet then put the bowl on over that. Works perfectly with a standard windcover.
Zyram
I used aluminum foil around a 2 liter soda bottle to form it, just make it a double wrap (and maybe more if you've got regular and not HD foil) works fine indoors and out. I just cut some holes around the top a few inches from the top about where the bowl will sit, and viola, a working wind cover. I folded one part of it over itself to keep it from unrolling, so it shrinks a tiny bit which is why I used a 2liter bottle, since they are plenty wide. I might order one of those from HJ though, cause the foil does diminish the classy look of a good hookah somewhat.-Z
Sonthert
Its to reduce the amount of turbulence in the fluid flow through the bowl.

Sonthert
You know when you have the garden hose out and you put your thumb over the water and it starts to spray? Thats turbulent fluid flow. Laminar is when is just coming out. Too short a neck and venturi is too close to the bowl section and you get turbulence. Stretch it out and you get laminar flow. But its from the source and sounds scientific. Since the air comes in at an angle, just like your toilet, it will circle as it go's towards the center. With the speed of the air in mind, the height is relevant to when the air will be closest together in the exact center.
