cotsi95
QUOTE (NimbleCow @ May 1 2009, 08:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Kind of curious still here as the Caravan end that goes into a Mya hose adapter is massive and it would be optimal I think if it was a bit of a better fit. But the Caravan ends are wrapped in a big chunk of plastic.. Would love to see or hear about the fitment of this hose into a Mya hose adapter vs. some of the other bigger hoses. I think I've heard you talk about Caravans before so I'm sure you know what I'm talkin' about here.Cheers!oh ya they will fit into myas perfectly the caravan tip didnt even fit into my km i had to grind it down.QUOTE (Scalliwag @ May 1 2009, 08:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Cool stuff you got going Cots Especially for what is out there on the market man. Mine won't compete with yours in the price you posted. I'm focusing on a high end market that I know will b a setback as far as sales are concerned. It looks like you will really drive against the status que and are bringing something to the market that will be one helluva contendor. I have great respect for you my friend. p.s.- there will always be critics. Let the masses judge you and your product and you'll be just fine. Einstein and Tesla had their detractors and it only made the stronger and this hookah shit is not rocket science right? There's still a lot of room for improvements here and I'm glad you have the balls to do something more than kick back and ride along with the normThanks Scalli

ColibriDon
I'd take two murdered out hoses at about 80". .5 diameter. Also, a glow in the dark hose would be kind of bad ass. Figure it out and I'd take one. I think these hoses would be great for travel or just regular use because you could wash them out so easily. Good idea, Cotsi. That's gotta say something, right?Do let us know about the possibility of dying the tips. I'll take a midnight with or without the dyed tips, but murdered FTW. liquidglass
Well I've been following the thread and I was a little skeptical when I saw the first post, nothing personal, just reminded me a lot of the tubing mod. But I'm not one to judge without trying something. So I'll def take one or twelve. Just depends on how much I like em then If I like them I can guarantee you more sales from word of mouth on my end lol. When will you start taking orders? And how "custom" can the tips be? NimbleCow
Yeah I'm curious to watch what the final line-up looks like. Personally I would love to be able to have an option that matches with a Mya-esque aesthetic--streamlined and modern--something that currently doesn't exist in the washable wide-hose market. Not a big deal though really. Also, what grade stainless? I'd assume 304 or 316, hopefully? Edited May 3, 2009 by AKammenzind

From memory I'll say their mouthpieces aren't, dunno about the rest as I've never wasted my money to buy one...That said they do look rather meh, and that certainly isn't purple haha. Unless it's because I just woke up and my eyes are lying to me.It's a little hard picturing the usage of these hoses when all you [I] use is KM Ultimate hoses. I know this isnt for everyone but i figured there is no washable hose on the market that doesnt fall apart and these solve that problem by not gluing the hose into the handle where it flexs and will eventually fail. Imsomint
I like the looks of these. Looks like a nice, durable, clean, easy to wash hose. The only problem I can think of is that it looks like it needs a little more armor around the tube to protect from falling coal.
delSol_si
Cotsi, first off, I am not trying to put you down by anything I say, I am simply giving an honest opinion as constructive criticism. I applaud your effort and am glad to see you doing this. That being said:I think these looks cheap as hell from the pics. I really like your idea behind them, but they (mainly the plastic tip version) looks like something you would find in the bargain bin. It does NOT look homemade by any means, just looks cheap and disposable as someone else has put it.At first, like many others, I was thinking "never!" and now that I have read the whole thread and such, I am starting to change my opinion. I would really like to see the durability test you speak of. Also, have you tested the strength of the connection of the tip and hose port tip to the hose(I didn't see anything about it on here)? I know with my KM ultimate, I really have to put a TON of force to get the tip to stay in the hose port on my KM. Will it break if I do this? One thing I would suggest is maybe trying to make a bigger handle for it. I personally think that is where a lot of the "cheap" look lies. I think a bigger handle will make a world of difference. The handles size just really reminds me of those cheap ass hoses that are paired with those cheap as chinese hookahs that take half an hour to take a hit because the hole is soo small. And yes, I know you said your diameter is wide. One thing I do like about the hose is I was sitting around a circle with some friends smoking my hookah and I was in a rocking chair. I got up and se my hose down so I could repack a bowl. When I sat back down, I didn't realize the hose was under the rocking chair and crushed the hose. Luckily, I was able to bend it enough to work again. I am assuming that these will have no problem with being crushed considering the material you are using.Being as you have a good reputation on the boards here, I am guessing that these hoses probably will be pretty badass, I just don't think the looks of them right now are doing you justice. Either that or the pics aren't doing them justice. And like I said, I like big handles.Again, I am not trying to bash you or anything like that, hell, I will probably be ordering one. I am just offering some constructive criticism and an honest opinion. I truly hope you will not take any offense to it as that was and is not my intent. Bookworm
really I'm just a fan of the big handled hoses instead of the mouthpiece-only variety.

MechAnt
Be careful with brass tips. I would actually recommend against them unless they are the connector to the hose and not the mouthtip. The reason for being against brass tip is that for example, if you had a cut on your lip and then played a trombone for a few hours with a nonplated brass mouthpiece, you can risk getting the mythical brass poisoning. Because brass is largely zinc, getting large amounts of it in your blood could prove fatal. There is no absolutely definitive evidence to go either way but in the music world, no one uses a purely brass mouthpiece. Sure, we play brass instruments breathing from them all the time and even drinking our spit out of it but we are fine but no one ever uses pure brass mouthpieces.I'd recommend against it.Other than that, looks good so far. Like mentioned, I'd love to see large handles as I am so used to them and love not having to put my hand right up to my mouth.
Mndgame
Look okay and as others said "disposable" looking. Personally, I don't care as long as it smokes well. Anyways just sort of a random suggestion, but if you are dying the hoses for coloring, you could try using tape/stickers to create patterns or variable times in the dyes to create fading effects.Edit: I know you said the hoses are food grade, but what type of dye are you using?I guess you'd have to use a video but how exactly is the tip attached? Is it removable and just held in with the metal piece? Edited May 12, 2009 by Mndgame
