wood mouthpiece (large type), metal hose port end (to prevent the dreaded wood rot), and an affixed hose cover and it'd be badass.

Cotsi, if you could marry this hose with scalli's mouthpieces, it would be legit as fuck, bro. That being said, I agree with the longer handle... like put a ba bakir length, nammor/razan girth handle on one of these 80 inch hoses, and its only living rival for awesomeness would be chuck norris

I use a standard Mya hose, so I don't really mind not having a large handle on the hose. I'd buy 1 or 2 as is.

well, since none of us really know where wade has been - even me, and I live 5 minutes from him - i'll answer some questions and give as much of an update as I can.

the first thing I am going to say, and it is the answer to all of these thoughts, questions, and ramblings is: you are just going to have to try one.

oh and I have to clarify, the man behind the madness is a fellow hookah smoker that ranks amongst the top hookah snobs on the forum. trust me, i see this guy every day and he always has something new to show me about how he improved the hose - even though i already though the hose was perfect.

Well then I can't speak for them directly, since I didn't smoke one, but when given the choice of every hose in the shop, EVERYONE at Hookah House was using your hoses, Wade. That's gotta say something, right?

Do let us know about the possibility of dying the tips. I'll take a midnight with or without the dyed tips, but murdered FTW.

What is it with you guys? Are nammor hoses even greater than 1/2" ID? From memory I'll say their mouthpieces aren't, dunno about the rest as I've never wasted my money to buy one...

That said they do look rather meh, and that certainly isn't purple haha. Unless it's because I just woke up and my eyes are lying to me.

It's a little hard picturing the usage of these hoses when all you [I] use is KM Ultimate hoses.

you are just going to have to try it. MW has made a few hoses for friends and dedicated hookah smokers that have flowed better than any hose I have ever held. It was an improvement to my KM Ultimate on my KM Amoura. It is hard to imagine the usage by just seeing them online, I agree, but you have to try one in person.

Cotsi, first off, I am not trying to put you down by anything I say, I am simply giving an honest opinion as constructive criticism. I applaud your effort and am glad to see you doing this. That being said:

I think these looks cheap as hell from the pics. I really like your idea behind them, but they (mainly the plastic tip version) looks like something you would find in the bargain bin. It does NOT look homemade by any means, just looks cheap and disposable as someone else has put it.

At first, like many others, I was thinking "never!" and now that I have read the whole thread and such, I am starting to change my opinion. I would really like to see the durability test you speak of. Also, have you tested the strength of the connection of the tip and hose port tip to the hose(I didn't see anything about it on here)? I know with my KM ultimate, I really have to put a TON of force to get the tip to stay in the hose port on my KM. Will it break if I do this?

One thing I would suggest is maybe trying to make a bigger handle for it. I personally think that is where a lot of the "cheap" look lies. I think a bigger handle will make a world of difference. The handles size just really reminds me of those cheap ass hoses that are paired with those cheap as chinese hookahs that take half an hour to take a hit because the hole is soo small. And yes, I know you said your diameter is wide.

One thing I do like about the hose is I was sitting around a circle with some friends smoking my hookah and I was in a rocking chair. I got up and se my hose down so I could repack a bowl. When I sat back down, I didn't realize the hose was under the rocking chair and crushed the hose. Luckily, I was able to bend it enough to work again. I am assuming that these will have no problem with being crushed considering the material you are using.

Being as you have a good reputation on the boards here, I am guessing that these hoses probably will be pretty badass, I just don't think the looks of them right now are doing you justice. Either that or the pics aren't doing them justice. And like I said, I like big handles.

Again, I am not trying to bash you or anything like that, hell, I will probably be ordering one. I am just offering some constructive criticism and an honest opinion. I truly hope you will not take any offense to it as that was and is not my intent.

the cheap feeling fades fast. they feel completely different than they look through the computer screen. i have to admit that when i first saw this post, they looked cheap to me, too. I see them at the lounge every day, and there is a reason why lounges are picking these over their normal hoses.

Be careful with brass tips. I would actually recommend against them unless they are the connector to the hose and not the mouthtip.

The reason for being against brass tip is that for example, if you had a cut on your lip and then played a trombone for a few hours with a nonplated brass mouthpiece, you can risk getting the mythical brass poisoning. Because brass is largely zinc, getting large amounts of it in your blood could prove fatal. There is no absolutely definitive evidence to go either way but in the music world, no one uses a purely brass mouthpiece. Sure, we play brass instruments breathing from them all the time and even drinking our spit out of it but we are fine but no one ever uses pure brass mouthpieces.

I'd recommend against it.


Other than that, looks good so far. Like mentioned, I'd love to see large handles as I am so used to them and love not having to put my hand right up to my mouth.

I don't think he was planning on doing a full brass tip. most of the metal on these is the little bands where the hose and tip connect. though, I know he was talking about getting some sort of metal tip in the works, for either end or both. my honest favorite so far has been a crazy combination of metal, wood, and plastic. That hose would make you guys forget about the cheap part.

all of the things you asked for are easily 100% doable. once MW has completed his current run and gotten through all of the backup with lounges and individual orders, i'm sure he will be getting a website up where you can customize your hose.

I would be interested in participating in this . I just found out last night that my KM leather wrapped hose has a leak somewhere, so if these are as durable as you have proposed, I am becoming even more interested in them.
