jezter6
I've noticed this recently with my miniphunnel, and wondered if others had similar experiences or if I'm just insane.Normally I rock 2 cocos part off my mini to start. Once they get down to about 33-45% left, I toss the windcover on to keep the bowl warm whlie I light my second round (1 coco). So, I normally put the second round on dead hot right off the coil burner. I've been noticing recently that no matter what the 1st round coals are at (20%, 30%, completely out - so I know it's not that I have too much heat from both the first and second round coals being on at the same time) - the fresh coal immediately starts to burn the bowl a bit. This happens for a few minutes until the ambient air seems to cool the coal down and it gets ashed over a little bit (even the one side starts to go back to black) - everything returns to normal except that I had a few minutes of burn/harshness.I just put my second coal on the burner now and am about to try letting it sit for a few minutes off the stove to sort of "cool off" so it doesn't go on the bowl red hot to see if that helps out a bit.Just wondering if anyone else has seen this or does this with their coals. jezter6
Update: that seemed to work this time! I'm not calling it a firm conclusion that this is going to solve my problems for good, but I am definately going to continue this procedure to confirm that every bowl smokes better after doing this. inino
whenever I use boxed compressed naturals like cocos or gc's I will always let the bottom of the coal cool down 20 seconds or so, if not i end up roasting that part of the bowl.
antouwan
i pretty much only use cocos, and whenever i take the coal off of the burner or the gas i always put it in the tray to let it 'cool off' because the damn things are usually flaming and i don't want to scorch the shit out of my baccy
