Trouble With Af Lemon

Hey guys, so I was eager to smoke some AF Lemon yesterday but I was having a lot of trouble getting it to smoke properly.

Classic bowl with phake phunnel mod.
Decent amount of shisha, not tightly packed but not very very aerated either.
Thin aluminum cover with ~20 holes (it was breathing ok, not too much not too little)
3 fully lit golden canary japanese charcoals
Brand new shisha that i mixed well before placing in the bowl.

I lit the charcoals placed them in a triangular pattern around the bowl and let them sit there for a few minutes to warm up the bowl. And i started to take a few puffs... Well i barely got any smoke, even though i used the same technique the night before with Al Amir grape and AF apple and got WAY more smoke... am i doing something bad here ?! Seems to me like the Jap coals are not burning hot enough (they were glowing dark red when i put em on)

smoke wasnt rough... but it lacked a bit of flavor.

i use af lemon all the time with mixes and on its own and i have never had a problem.... maybe its the jap coals man they can give off a bad taste sometimes...maybe try it with some naturals or like 1/2 3kings.... you should take some pics of your setup or how your phunnel thing is set up so everyone else can see

When you say decent amount of shisha what exactly does that mean? Packed to the rim of the bowl?

loose the phake phunnel mod and try it again.

AF is known to produce insane clouds, so if anything, there is something wrong with your setup, because even the driest tobacco [Nakhla] will smoke really nice when packed properly and the perfect amount of heat is being managed.

Try to acclimate it a little [more].
