jerry_beans_man
So i purchased a really nice mya qt the other day after smoking my roommates.i got a few different flavors and tried smoking it for the first time last night.first thing i noticed is im not getting nice airflow through it. barely any bubbling at all.other things ive noticed is the smoke is very thin and very weak with no flavor (other than the taste of coal), and i get a nauseous feel when i smoke it.ive tried my bowl on my roommates QT, and even my base on his as well. I've tried multiple flavors and brands (tangiers, starbuzz, etc) and even different hoses and coals.i'm begining to wonder if its a problem with the stem, although that doesnt make sense given the circumstances.any help would be appreciated! im home alone on a saturday and would like to get this thing going while i play call of duty haha. Stuie
Look Down the stem. Make sure this nothing in it. Got a packing peanut wedged in one of mine once. Also take off the purge valve and make sure the bb isn't stuck and I suggest replacing it with an Airsoft plastic BB.other than that check the hose valve for anything. If all else fails ....Post tons of pics inside and out ... we will get to the bottom of this. joytron
what coals are you using?1. put the hookah together completely except for the bowl on the stem.2. place hand over stem3. inhale through hose, if you get air through the hose there is a leak, if not then everything is sealed.try adding more water if the stem isnt submerged you might have some problems
jerry_beans_man
okay i checked all of that. everything seems to be in working condition. im gonna try and get it going right now...im gonna a different hole-poking method than i have been, and im gonna be using three kings instead of coconaras (theyre locked in my roommate's room)*crosses fingers*
jerry_beans_man
joytron, i just tried what you said, everything is sealed perfectly. ive also filled it up with water so the stem is about a cm submerged.
Stuie
water level should be about a 1/4 inch below the top of the big crown portion.
jerry_beans_man
alright, i got it to about that level
Giant Ninja Robot
The downstem needs to be about 1/2 inch to 1.5 inches submerged, a cm is way too little and that would probably explain what's up.
jerry_beans_man
thanks ninja...that could be it, i'm probably under estimating how much water im using.
Nikon1323
if all else fails, take the poker on the tongs and poke a hole through the shisha all the way through 2-3 of the bowl holes....this allows more airflow and the shisha will cook better because those mya bowls are so deep sometimes the shisha doesnt cook well
SilverK
Are you SURE you got a Mya hookah and not a knock-off?I ask because every store around me only sells knock-off QTs. I just bought a Bambino and let me tell you that it's one helluva pipe and there's no room for user error really. Good luck...
AKammenzind
Noone asked about his pack...?Make sure you pack your bowl lightly, those mya bowls are easy to clog. Also, make sure your coals (assuming you're using quicklights) are fully lit before you put on the bowl, otherwise it'll taste like hell and probably about as good for your health. Since you're apparently new to hookah, this is quite possibly your problem. Also, don't always listen to what your friend says... a lot of people are complete noobs/fails without having a clue that they are. Stick around the forum and all your problems with hookah will fade away quickly.
MWlax00
i had a similar problem that comes and goes, and idk whyi have noticed when i screw my downstem on, it goes on at a sever angle. then if i look down from the top stem, i cant see completely down the stem. i can play with lining up the threads, and get it decently straight, but its still annoying. mushrat
Draw through your hose without connecting it. Is the hose blocked?
