Wind Cover?

How does a wind cover improve the smoke? I've been smoking without one for a while now, but I've noticed that people are using them a lot recently. What are the pro's and con's? Besides it saving your carpet or whatever.

the wind cover traps in heat from the coals, it will get a session cooking pretty good, but if you're not careful you'll burn the crap out of your shisha

Hmm i use one most of the time. You can put the coals further to the outside wich should help prevent burning. Also makes the coal last a bit longer.

the cover helps trap heat in works really well when coals are going out to make them last longer

I think it adds a half a coal, or 25% of the total heat to the bowl..maybe less.


Its also for "wind" outside so ash / hot flakes don't fly everywhere

I have found no drawback. One even saved my life when i was sitting on our brand new couch and my hose hooked on something when i pulled it to me and pulled the whole hookah towards me. I caught the hookah but the head, caols, and cover went over my shoulder. The cover held the bowls, coals, and ash in it and i was able to lift the whole thing off without burning the couch. My wife let me live.
