FamiliarJoe
Went to a party last night, thought it would be a nice chill relaxing night. Get there and start to setup my hookah, and my good friend goes to fill up the vase with water.Seconds later, I see a piece of my blue vase slide in front of my foot on the tile floor (right after I heard the shatter of course).Someone tryed fighting my friend because he thought he was someone else, resulting in this.Guess I won't be smoking for a while!!! mushrat
Dang im tired of everyone pushing KM's. They are NOT the end all and be all of hookahs and not counting the bases, which can break on a Km as well, the QT will be in service long after the KM has rusted, Busted, and turned into a lamp.there have beeen an awful lot of "KM problem" threads of late. I have never used one though Not the end of the world, just an unfortunate way to end a weekend.

The KM I got had a wobbly base and a leaky seam around the bowl port. I'm glad I sold it and got my Bambino. I see so many people praise KM on the fact that they're hand made. Really? No wonder the welds along the hose port and soldering around the purge valve and bowl port are shoddy as hell. I was smoking at my friends house last night when I realized his knock-off QT (rainbow) pulls just as good and, in my opinion, is of better quality than the KM I used to have, even with the cheap hose it came with. Not to mention the base gasket on my bambino smells less of tire than the one my KM shipped with.
chromecarz00
I guess I'll be the only KM fanboy chiming in here, but to me they are exactly what you called it Mush, the end all. Although I have to say that I have had excellent luck with them, and that all the myas and syrians ive tried havent pulled nearly as well nor hit as well. I think that KM's consistency has gone down in the past year/two so its really hit or miss nd thats affected their reputaiton, like AF at times. But I will concur that Myas and Syrians are great hookahs, and defenitly acceptable to smoke, but a KM done right trumps all.MZ isnt far behind, but the one i smoked had a bit of a constrictive pull so thats why not as amazing an opinion. no longer welcome
wow, this thread has taken a turn. as a vendor it's in my best interest to sell everything under the moon and making money doing, right? kind of, at least. But that wasn't my goal when I made that comment. On a personal level I have to admit that I prefer KM's and their imperfections over all other brands. Syrians are nice, but I don't like their imperfections (too narrow of a stem imo, and most syrian stems hang a little too high in the bowl forcing you to add water to the neck of the base.) MYA's are really pretty, no imperfections or criticism coming from me on their looks and design. I think they are too delicate and easily breakable and I don't like the whole screw in thing. You can even make a junior hookah work, I've had a stargate as well.I just prefer to smoke my KM's and have sold off all other used hookahs that I had, including my MZ's which are great too. I'm entitled to my opinion too, right? I didn't feel as though I was overly "pushing" them though, but if OP asked me as a customer/friend/relative/brother from another mother I would have responded that way. I will not end a post saying KM FTW! but I honestly feel that way.On another note, I wish we had more syrian hookahs available that are just a bit bigger. KMs smoke brilliantly, are of superior quality (Behind Nour) and have looks that are stylish and elegant without being garish (*cough* PIMP Myas *cough*). While I do think that KMs are pushed a lot on this forum, I expect it. Hell, I bought my Malak because of the praise of KMs on this forum and I still use it at least every week. If you make a good product, people will encourage others to try it. Hell, Tangiers is praised just as much, if not more so, on this forum. Why? Because it's a great tobacco that deserves the praise it gets--same as KM. I just bought my 3rd KM from HC (Refer to sig), and once again, I am impressed with it. So I will continue to praise it. While I can appreciate where Mush is coming from, "There are not JUST KM hookahs, you know?". I think that they get what they deserve. However, the second tall nours start being as available in this country as KMs, I will officially jump to the Nour Fanboy ship. Back on subject, sorry that your base got broken. However, replacement vases abound and you can easily pick one up or a whole new hookah.
Nikon1323
hookahjohn idk how everyone else feels but its not just you its just that every time someone doesnt know what hookah to get everyone says KM and usually followed is MZ.... which i have heard nothing but great things about (enough to make me buy my own km) but i think people should look around and do their own research... thats what i did and got my syrian that i love to death its just a little redundant i guess but i know everyone likes them so there all goin to post their opinion

FamiliarJoe
In a weird way im glad this topic went a bit OT to a more"are KM's really worth the hype?" topic, because thats what I planned on getting as a replacement :XThe way I see it over all even though I CERTAINLY have not smoked every brand of hookah...MYA = exceptionally reliable and the QT is the best bang for your buck. (shitty generic hoses)KM = beautiful and 1 of a kind, has character, and USUALLy smokes amazing (the KM hose adds to the quality of the KM in general)20 dollar gas station hookah = terrible, even smaller hose than a stand MYA hose, falls apart and ends up being covered in duct tape to keep it air tight (which adds character)I still think I will buy a KM in the end

It NEVER fails. EVERY time someone requests suggestion for a hookah, the response is ALWAY KM. then someone else ALWAYS chimes in with "KM for quality, MZ or Mya it you want a cheaper but still good hookah."I am not ragging on KM as that is what I use, but I just find it funny that the responses are ALWAYS the same, sigh....Oh, and then someone will always post gh?, HC, HS, TH, or sometimes MNH. I am starting to think there should be a sticky of this info with the title "Want to know what hookah to buy? Click Here." It would save on A LOT of new topics being started. If you want a cheaper baccy to smoke that still smokes great, try Layalina. I lot of people on this forum think is cheap crap, but I personally love it, though I haven't had the pleasure of trying Tangiers...yet.But ya, my KM is a great smoking hookah, but I don't see it lasting that terribly long. I am already on my second base (thanks likespaceships), and the second vase is wobbly sometimes (not complaining at all, it doesn't bother me at all). The purge valve is either rusted or corroded, as is the hose port. The ball bearing is rusted so I use something else now. I noticed the welds on the hose or purge valve next to the downspout (the part the goes into the vase) has a small crack, though it doesn't seem to affect the smokability yet, and the end of the downspout is starting to show signs of rust and had metal shards on it when I got it, which eventually rusted or broke off. I NEVER leave the hookah stem sitting in the water after smoking. The hose on the other hand, is simply amazing. And like I said, it does smoke great, just not the best quality I guess.I am happy with my KM, but don't plan on buying another one. My next purchase will probably be the Hobo. There is a syrian in the trades section I wouldn't mind buying, but I don't really have the extra cash right now.
liquidglass
Well didnt' expect the thread to go this direction...But firstly, I prefer a KM personally. I still have many other types I want to try but my KM's are my babies. I think I can be one of the more objective of the opininated becuase I really really lucked out and ended up getting 1) A mya for my first hookah and 2) an KM for my second. The only trick is I HAD NO CLUE that I had bought that particular brand of either one, and I didn't even know what the brands were or what everyone said about them. My Mya smoked awesome, I loved it. BUT my KM smoked better IMO. After I got my KM I used it pretty much exclusively. Again just based off my personal opinion and no preconceived judgments. I kept my MYA for a long time until I had a friend that needed a start up hookah and I sold him mine to start him with what I started with. And I still love to visit it, every so often. Obviously my KM smokes better now than my mya ever did because my knowledge has grown but as of the last time I used it, KM still won .
Bookworm
Get a Magdy Zidan, it's a simple enough build that it won't come apart on you, but smokes great.Smokes like a dream with a good KM hose.
