Victim026
Well I finally got a chance to place an order with HJ for some Tangier's Lucid, I should mention now that HJ did a stellar job getting package to me including shipping same day when I placed an order at 6:30 in the evening. Now I've had my fair share of OG Tangiers in the past with hit or miss results, it seems that only 50% of my bowls with OG are any good and it may have been humidity related(stupid texas weather). I was hopeful that getting Lucid would solve the humidty issues I've had in the past and even after acclimating the Lucid just to be safe, I'm still getting absolutely shittasic results out of it. The clouds are there, and by there I mean freakin massive as all get out, but the flavors are lacking to an extreme. I ordered Tasty Peach, Blue Gum Ball, and Schnozzberries. The Tasty Peach had the most flavor out of the three but tastes mostly soapy with a hint of peach in the background, it absolutely reeks of peach when you smell it though. The Schnozzberries was fruity but still seemed very light in flavor and drifited in and out from time to time, this one also smells wonderfully pleasant. The BGB is horrible, tastes like ass, and smells like bbq/soy sauce. I'm using either a KM Mash'al or Mya QT with a Mini Phunnel, a brand new Mya Hose(til I can order a scalli or roka hose and I have a new mya hose dedicated to each flavor) and Starlight Coco coals. I'm packing like I would for AF, which is what's been suggested so far, and using 3 coco's at a time. The reason for 3 is that 2 isn't enough even with a windcover, I just get small whispy smoke without the three. So any suggestions folks, I'm willing to try anything at this point.... inino
pack like tangiers not AF, When its packed tight, the flavors tend to be better. Only thing I can think of based on your description. and even though its lucid I would suggest acclimating for 2-3 hours.
Victim026
I wouldn't worry, too many people love this stuff for it to be bad, I'm sure it's user error on my part I just wanna figure out what I'm doing wrong.

ColibriDon
Pack it tight, right below the brim. Foil with 2 rings of 16 holes and 4 holes in between the two rings, 1 in the center. 3 cocos, in a triangle pattern. And....BOO YAH! This should get you smoking with full flavor and dragon clouds. I set up lucid just like this and have yet to have a bad session with it. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Frst of all the stars have to be alligned and the moon has to set at a certain angle. i have ordered numerous tangiers flavors and each time the falvor tastes differently even if its the same exact flavor. i just dont think it is worth it at all. i have even emailed eric at tangiers and i was totally ignored i would rather smoke AF or nakhla any day of the week than tangiers. Tangiers is like a tease it smells great in the tub but tastes like crap in the bowl i just wish it wasnt so inconsistent because when you do get a good bowl it is really good. just to let you know i had the same problem with the Lucid blue berry gumball. you just wasted 45 dollars sorry to be the bearer of bad news

All good things take time, experience, and money.... And frankly if it were really that inconsistent Eric and other lounge owners(such as Mush) wouldn't use it as a staple of their business. Obviously once you get it down and know what your doing each and every time then it should be a non-issue, I just personally have yet to achieve that level and it would seem you haven't gotten there yet either. inino
You didnt waste a penny, dont listen to him. The post that was talking about packing above the rim then forking it down is a good way to do it. after I press it down I put the foil on, press down again with foil and poke my holes slightly larger than normal. 3 cocos on a small phunnel should work fine, if its too harsh kick it down to 2. Ya dont underpack it, just cuz its lucid. well you can underpack it when you get more practice, but while you are learning pack it tight like normal OG. Boricua
I pretty much smoke Lucid exclusively. It's the best shisha on the market, period. Here's how I pack (and it works every time):1)Stir the shisha around the tub with a fork, make sure you stir it thoroughly so it can pick up the juices that hang around the bottom of the tub. (There's usually no need for acclimating lucid)2)Pack your shisha in like you would OG. Tight, over the rim, fork works better for me.3)2 rings all around the phunnel, 1 hole in the middle, several holes i between the rings. 4)2 cocos5)Enjoy

antouwan
i do the clump and place method. grab about a gumball sized piece worth place it in, another gumball sized piece place it next to it, scoot it over if need be so there aren't any gaps. repeat and clean it up a bit so shit isn't hanging over the rim and stuff (i find that if there's tobacco on the rim when you put on the foil, then you're going to get major glycerine drippage down the side of your phunnel and into the tray.this is the EXACT same method i use for nakhla and similar great results. At least use some spacing so its easier on the eyes, please.I don't think Tangiers needs anything special. I pack it and smoke it pretty much the same way I pack and smoke any other shisha under the sun. But, in what has become my favorite nugget of forum wisdom (and I wish I remember who said it!), hookah smoking is an art not a science. Every bowl is gonna be a little different than the last, even if you have your technique down... there are gonna be variables. And the true hookah smoker adapts, and learns to work with his tools and products to achieve the smoke he/she is looking for.

That just staggers me that anyone can put that much heat on a bowl and not burn it.I sometimes have too much heat with 3 HALVES.I had a bowl of OG Orange Soda last night... and 3 halves was a little much on the first round. 2 halves was PERFECT on the second round.O'course it could be that I don't pack as much as most. Zyram
I often wonder about the heat too, on my small funnel I usually have to use 3 coals or 2 and a windcover, seems like I need to heat it alot to get it smoking well. I've got my method down for tangiers, it's pretty much all I smoke because it's not crazy expensive like SB and it gives great clouds which you don't get from some of the drier shisha's (Nak, AW). I do not think it's over-rated at all, but I will agree that it's finicky at times. I think like many have said, it just takes some adaptability on our parts first to find what works for us, then to get around any problems we may run in to. I always see people getting massive clouds with alot less heat than I use, but I use a little more heat and still manage not to burn it. I could be underpacking lately, I dunno, or I may even overpack tangiers, which is close to impossible. You just have to mess with it but it's all a judgment call, for some it's not worth it, and for tangiers fanboys like myself, the work we put into a good bowl of tangiers is just worth it.-Z
