Packing Nakhla Exactly Like Tangiers

Recommended Posts

So for the past few days I have been smoking nakhla out of my mini. I always pack it reasonably tight but nothing like tang.

Tonight I decided to pack it exactly like tang.

I stuffed a shit load of shisha in my mini with a mini fork, I packed as much as the thing could fit, poked massive toothpick holes all the way to the bottom of the bowl.

Used 2 cocos split in half (4 halves)

And daaaaaamn.

Flavor was incredible, I got clouds from the first pull just like what happens with Tangiers.

Clouds were the biggest I personally have ever experience.

Bowl lasted for 2 full rounds, each set of coals got me about 1.25 hours so 2.5 hours total and when i removed the foil it still had about 45min - 1hr left.

Oh and this was with mizo peach, I didn't think the flavor could get any better but I was wrong.

Once again, Eric, thank you for the phunnel!

All of you nakhla fans, give this a go, you won't be disappointed.

Shisha seems to have something in common with coffee.... Most people when they make coffee (according to a chef I know) use too little coffee thinking that less weakens it whereas too much makes it stronger and stronger. In reality the opposite is true. More is better because it "cooks" correctly and there isn't any bitterness. So while his recommended 1 tablespoon ground coffee per 6 ounce cup plus one for the pot might seem excessive it makes amazing coffee. Rich, tasty, and not a trace of bitterness or harshness. Seems more and more like the same principle applies to tobacco which might explain why packing so tightly works so much better on a lot of tobacco. I pack Al Waha very tight as well and get great flavor. Easily the equal of more expensive brands based on what I jokingly call "the coffee principle".

A proper cup of coffee is 2Tbls per 8oz of water biggrin.gif

But yea, Rani got it right! By trying to "weaken" coffee by putting in less grounds, you get considerably less taste and body. They key is to just make it properly or cut it with decaf wink.gif

Huh, guess I am the only one who doesn't like to pack it this way. For some reason I do not get the same results that you guys are. The flavor is not nearly as strong for me. I just packed a bowl of cinnamon (go figure....) just like Tangiers, and its was good even flavor through out the session. However, it never once got that super hot, smoking a bowl of Big Red, sensation. Strange.....

mattarios, as we used to say in boston when i was a kid..."what are you, new?"
just youtube this:
packing nakhla like tangiers

That's the only way I pack Nakhla these days.

I always packed it tight, just never poked holes all the way to the bottom of the bowl. By the looks of that video you don't either.

Try packing it EXACTLY like tang, meaning not only packing it tight, but also poking holes all the way to the bottom of the bowl, toothpick sized holes that is and a lot of them.

John started out with four coals. That's pretty insane, even for Nakhla. I haven't tried the Tangiers-method for Nakhla, will give it a shot tomorrow. But for those of you who do: how many coals do you start with? I rarely start of with more than two, so I was a surprised to see John using four.
