Articles Of Faith

Recommended Posts

For anyone interested, I've published the first of several (many) articles on the subject of spiritual faith on Hubpages. Please feel free to read the first article and comment either here or there as it's going to be a fairly inclusive series the way I have it planned. Thanks!

I look forward to reading your future installments! So far, I'm intrigued. It seems that you've approached the topic somewhat sympathetic -if not, just plainly so- to religious faith, particularly as a vehicle for man's enhancement.

Will you cover the distinction between religion and spirituality - two things often improperly conflated, or thought coterminous. That's at least my cynical take: "Who needs a church to worship God?"

Yes.... However, it's probably going to come at the end of the series. My plan is to take the different tenents of each "faith" and stand them against each other so that the similiarities are shown. That would naturally include even the "faith" of agnosticism as well. Religion and spirituality have been shown historically to have enormous influence on culture and political actions. I've come to believe we have two choices: We can disavow it and walk away from it in our distaste for accepted dogma, or we can acknowledge it's power (even if we as individuals don't necessarily agree with it) and use that power for change to make the world a little better. The second option makes more sense to me.

where are the Zarathustrians?

Under their Latinized name: Zoroastrians. They are also the first of the follow up articles, currently in progress for their antiquity and contribution to modern concepts in religion.

Zoroastrianism? isnt that whp publishes bibles could be wrong though

Numerous sects purclish bibles and there are at least a dozen versions. If you're referring to the bibles in hotel rooms everywhere, that would be the Gideons.

I don't see atheist spiritual faith discussed?

Atheists can have spiritual faith, too. I don't, but many atheists do, my brand of atheism represents a small portion of atheist ideology.

I didn't see Sikhism in there, or Satanism for that matter...oversights?

Congratulations on producing something that will have lasting impression of yourself for the ages. It makes you far sexier and me envious.

I'd very much like to read Sikhism. I never understood Satanism to be a "spiritual" belief, as such, but I just did my research and found that, much like atheists, Satanists are widely divided in terms of spiritual belief. I had previously understood satanism to be a sort of enlightenment movement, but it turns out that's only atheistic satanism.

As always, good merchant of death, you compel me to learn new things.
