I usually just run some hot water through it after my session or sometimes a couple hours before and then i run my brush through it and rinse again with hot water....seems to get rid of any lingering flavor from previous smokes....soap and things of that sort are a bad idea though due to the fact they leave a nasty taste behind for the next time you smoke

That is a nylon 12 gauge shotgun bore brush. They cost around $1.50 a piece, and can usually be found at Walmart or a Sporting goods store....... They have em at gunshops too.  That or a 20 gauge works well on Syrian stems
You put one of those on a cleaning rod that comes in 3 pieces... they cost around $8... you can make it as long or as short as you like.
You'll start finding that other sized brushes and jags fit other places.... A brass bristled 7.62mm/.30 up to .410 cal brush works nice on the egyptian stems.
Yes, they make the brush sets. but I wear em out too kwik. and the guncleaning stuff ends up being cheaper and easier to locate immediately.

I disassable my nargile (actualy mine can be disassabled into 5 pieces beside bottle) and put them in hot water, after 15 minutes, I run them through the hot water then cold water, neat cleaning procedure. Cleaning lule is harder though, you need to put it into boiling water and keep for 5 minutes to clean it neatly then with a knife clean the remaining parts. (Well I smoke around 10 times each day so I get more problem with cleaning and ahem as I am writing this post I am smoking my nargile ^^)
